Are you really that illiterate? I'm talking about remittances. Average people sending home part of their paycheck every week to Mexico and beyond through services like Western Union. Those countries very much depend on that money coming in.

As long as these people find work from greedy and drug addicted Americans, they'll continue to cross. Wall or no wall.
We aren't talking about drug money. Illegal immigrant in Omaha marches down to Wal-Mart every payday and sends money to his wife in Guadalajara. How's he going to do that if Federal government stops electronic transmission of funds to Mexico? He could buy a money order I suppose and mail it. Might get there, might not, and it'll take a heck of a lot longer. Billions of dollars head south in remittances that people need. If Trump cuts that off it'll be a huge disruption in Latin America.

True, but that money is one of the largest sources of income in all of those countries that are sending the most immigrants to the U.S.. What this comes down to is y'all shoot down anything that might help Trump get the wall built.

Ask yourself why Drumpf hasn't done it already if it would work.
And he got amnesty for millions that many to this day disagree with. That encouraged people to keep coming. He was a saint, but he wasn't perfect. Just about every country on Earth protects jobs for it's own citizens. It's very difficult for a U.S. citizen to get a job in Latin America unless it's something that no one locally can do. But in the U.S. business owners want to pay as little as they can get away with so they're happy to see a constant stream of people come here who'll work for less. That doesn't help our citizens who are struggling to make the mortgage and car payment while feeding their kids. Another thing too. The 80's were a very different time. Globalization hadn't kicked in yet to the extent we have now. The economy was strong and workers were needed. From that standpoint I can see Reagan wanting to insure a strong economy with enough workers.
Probably because the banks who make serious money off of remittances are fighting it.
