Is Trump really saying he “declassified” the documents that the FBI planted at Mar-a-Lago?
So this all came into focus after the National Archives failed to get Trump to return classified documents.
Even if Trump declassified them, isn’t there a process by which the National Archives creates and stores copies? Didn’t Trump falsely or erroneously say that he did not have the 11 boxes of documents that the FBI removed?
I think what’s being missed is that even if Trump declassified them, that act does not make him sole owner and possessor of those documents. And hiding them when they are requested, denying they are in your possession when they are requested should be troubling to everybody.

My guess is there's some sort of process, even for the President, to declassify documents. Probably some sort of form(s) for security personnel and archivists with a signature chain that ensures the right documents are being declassified.
A rouge security officer could just say "President X just declassified these documents" then put them in to the hands of bad parties doesn't seem how things work.
And I don't understand the whole "President Trump can just wave his hand at any document thus making them unsecure and his to do what he wants."

every president has that back and forth with the archives. Trump returned what they asked for. Archives said trump cooperated and that they the archives were not the cause of the raid.
not according to the national archives.
none of this recquires a raid. Trump met with them June 4th showed them everything he had. They asked for a better lock on the storage area. they waited two months before asking for a search warrant. Not a lot of urgency there.

I've always advocated that pregnancies due to rape or incest can be terminated as long as they're done early enough. Someone deciding at 6 months their pregnancy was due to rape shouldn't be allowed. And no one that I've heard of is trying to outlaw homosexuality. You ascribe things to Christians all the time that just aren't happening.

the president is the ultimate authority on declassification. he does not need anyones approval and he does not have to wait on any process when declassifying. He has the authority to verbally declare a document is declassified regardless of whether someone eventually changes the stamp on the document or not.

I'm sympathetic to the rape or incest victim. the problem is if you believe all pregnancies are a life and abortion is murder then that would include those children.
once you decide what life can live and which one can not then you start sliding down the slippery slope.

NARA and the DOJ had no reason to believe those documents went through the declassification process. And yes, there's a process. Trump doesn't get to say that the classified material is just magically declassified after he's caught with a cache of them. LOL
If Obama did this you'd be screaming bloody murder.
