He had documents he shouldnt have had,that he claimed he didnt have and since they were classified his lawyer had to ask for a third party with a high securityclearance to read them. you are wrong,please google ORCON. These sensitive documents marked ORCON have to give written permission to have them declassified by a third party,no exception. Several of the documents Trump had in Mar a lago were marked ORCON,so one way that would be very easy to note they are declassified is by finding the written permission of the agency that marked them secret. Of course there are other easier ways as well to tell if they are declassified

You asked why did he ask for a Special Master if the materials were declassified (by himself). Inferring if they were declassified no Special Master would be needed.
