I would suppose that they do it less frequently because they are paid better, which is a logical assumption. For the most part, the UPS people I encounter are very professional. I can't say the same about Express or Ground.
The proper method is to bounce them off the corner of the door instead of the "Free Throw" technique shown here. This employee obviously lives the "Purple Promise".
Yeah I can't believe they would throw UPS into this mess, but I mean this kid is obviously of not seniority hes looks a starting driver. He actually flips the camera off and throws the box! C'mon man!
Probably a helper they picked up at the probation office. I've never seen a driver wearing a safety vest not even during training. Also wearing white shoes so it's probably his first day or figure out he is supposed to wear boot.
That box probably fell off a different truck when the driver wasn't looking at a light or something as it seems way too oversized for even FDXG to handle. I had something similar happen to me but it was a bale of hay.
The UPS guy flipping the bird was delivering a Zappos. The slight toss won't break what is inside the box, shoes. Shoes in a box can survive a drop from a 10 story building.
I heard a little back story that some aren't reporting. I heard the customer first went to FedEx, explained what happened (also advised them of video) and FedEx tried to just blow them off. It wasn't until the customer released the video to the media that anything happened. If that's the true then good for the customer.
