First quarter profit down over 17% — Now what?

My entire point to Amazon is that they had a 20+ year vision. UPS / FedEx / Post Office did not and now we either adapt or face the consequences for the next generation of workers at UPS.

You really think UPS couldn't build and operate a large warehouse outside Atlanta for example and offer 1-day shipping? We could have done a pilot program like this 10+ years ago.
UPS had plans 20 years ago to do this. Would have been perfect timing for online sales taking off. It was severely curtailed and morphed into UPS logistics.

Extreme missed opportunity. Back then there were still some long term visionary leaders in management but the new bread Wall Street worriers won out. Tightest ship no more.

20 years later...

I wrote up my truck...
Mechanic says they are not allowed to order spark plugs. Where is the captain of this sinking ship?

Do you think the company has been saving in a separate account since August 1st for all this retro money or will this be the blame for Q2?

I have no idea about exact numbers but if the average retro check is $2000 and there’s 200,000 employees that $400 million dollars in retro checks to be sent out.

Again, these numbers are all extremely rough estimates.

They have been collecting interest on that money since Aug 1st

Expecting the return of route cutting? Grumpier Center Manager? Even less toilet paper and paper towels?

It's going to be worse than that....
