The Catholic Church was formed hundreds of years after Christ established his church. It's the result of the rich and powerful seeing the potential to control the masses and developed a hierarchy that's not in the New Testament. Kept the scripture cloaked in a dead language to keep control. Luther saw through all of this and was brave enough to challenge Church authority and start much needed reform.
Not sure what Protestant churches you attended but not where I attend. Your hierarchy isn't found in the New Testament and Mary was never appointed to mediate between man and God. I'm not here to rag on the Catholic Church, y'all have plenty on your plate without my assistance. I also know very faithful Catholics and the good Catholic charities do. But you mention an unbroken 2000 years yet it's well documented about the power the Catholic Church wielded and the resulting corruption and decadence because of it.

I don’t disagree with many of Luthers complaints. Just what he did after. The Church is a divine institution run by humans. We expect corruption. The counter reformation reformers did great things for the Church and are saints because of it.
It took the Reformation to get reformers like St. Francis de Assisi. It was the corruption of the Catholic Church that drove men to seek to worship much more like they found in the New Testament after having the Bible translated into their own language. The Church is a spiritual body and Christ adds us to it, not men, and compliance with God's will, not the will of men, keeps us there.
I myself try never to vote for things I live outside the blast radius of. I prefer homogenous, organic things that tend to only work in high trust, mutual respect communities.
