Global warming

butterfly effect can have serious consequences!
But hey, in the meantime prior to the universe being destroyed, maybe we'd see a few informative posts ;)

Again, you simply post something without checking it out first.

"Figures cited by government officials do show an increase – though not as big a jump as Stevens claims. Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne said at the department’s press conference that the polar bear population increased from "a low of about 12,000 in the late 1960s to approximately 25,000 today." But the size of the world’s polar bear population is subject to much debate."

The history of polar bear numbers is sketchy at best, but there are some good numbers to rely upon. Polar Bears prior to the late 60's were allowed to be hunted and the numbers were diminished. Thats a little something your "SIGN" doesnt say. Secondly, the estimated numbers for polar bears in the 60's ranged in the low 12,000's and not 5000 like your "SIGN" suggests.

Polar Bear Population

While the numbers of polar bears increased since the 60's, it wasnt due to climate change not occuring, but mainly because they could no longer be hunted and gained protective status.

However, as the population grew, and the planet heats, those numbers in the 20k's is reducing.

I love how you just run with whatever shows up in your email box.

Peace

"Weasel Zippers' own catchphrase is "Scouring the bowels of the internet". Ya that's why they come up with so much crap. ....." (DIDO)

I don't see what a catchphrase has to do with a printed news story from Reuters, AP, NBC, CBS, Huffington, CNN, etc...........you used the word 'aggregate' before.....it's just a corral of lassoed news stories from reliable news sources.

"Arctic sea ice averaged 2.35 million square miles in August 2013, as compared to the low point of 1.32 million square miles recorded on Sept. 16, 2012, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center. A chart published Sept. 8 by NSIDC shows the dramatic rise this year, putting total ice cover within two standard deviations of the 30-year average."

Middle-September is the lowest point for ice build-up in the cryosphere, so essentially what this article does is present slanted data by comparing apples and oranges.

Leave it to Fox News to slant and Moreluck to eat it up.

Global warming? No, actually we’re cooling, claim scientists!
by Hayley Dixon, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/
A cold Arctic summer has led to a record increase in the ice cap, leading experts to predict a period of global cooling.
-
There has been a 60 per cent increase in the amount of ocean covered with ice compared to this time last year, they equivalent of almost a million square miles.
-
In a rebound from 2012′s record low an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia’s northern shores, days before the annual re-freeze is even set to begin.
-
The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year, forcing some ships to change their routes.
-
A leaked report to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) seen by the Mail on Sunday, has led some scientists to claim that the world is heading for a period of cooling that will not end until the middle of this century.
-
If correct, it would contradict computer forecasts of imminent catastrophic warming. The news comes several years after the BBC predicted that the arctic would be ice-free by 2013.
-
Despite the original forecasts, major climate research centres now accept that there has been a “pause” in global warming since 1997
