You ask how their going to sell it?
Easy, with a wink and a nod they are blaming Obamacare.
Automatically the conservative loudmouths start their screaming, station management and HR don't have to say anymore from that point.
The ignorant ones that don't read a newspaper buy this line too, never mind that Healthcare costs are leveling off or actually dropping in some places now.
Even TUT put up our financials and showed a much lower than recent increase in benefit costs year over year.

I suspect what they want is to push people into Obamacare and save money. But funny how you are already pushing any potential failure of Obamacare onto Republicans. And by the way, Obamacare isn't actually saving money, just the rate of increase of premiums isn't as high as the CBO originally predicted. But Americans are experiencing rate increases, and it's due to insurance companies trying to pay for coverage of those with pre-existing conditions as mandated by Obamacare.

Yeah, those with pre-conditions should be excluded, even those with birth defects !

Boo hoo for those poor, starving insurance companies.

Those insurance companies are actually raking in the cash right now.

As a matter of fact, once I sell my 'wad' of FedEx stock (if my target price doesn't hit next week, I'll sell anyway...., its getting real close to my target and timing is important), I've already got an index fund of health insurance companies which I will roll the proceeds from that sale of stock into.

FedEx isn't a stock one holds onto - it is a dog historically. It is just with the 'reorganization' that is going on, it is experiencing an uptick.

However... health insurance is booming right now. Just as Obama is a gun maker's best friend (gun sales have SOARED since he's been president), health insurance companies have likewise soared due to the actions of Obama. There's money to be made in that government mandate (as messed up as it is), so that is where the money is going.

Hmmm. That doesn't sound communist or socialist to me.

You can all say what you want about the plan, but you need to be thankful for what you receive in the way of benefits. Before you say anything about the PPACA (aka, ObamaCare) PLEASE read the 2,700 page document IN ITS ENTIRETY. I am a beneficiary of FedEx health plans, and I can tell you from experience that it is the best coverage out there for any company that provides employment at LIVING WAGE (vs minimum wage) salaries for a workforce that is primarily made up of high school graduates with NO COLLEGE EDUCATION. If you would prefer to have the coverage that TEAMSTERS give, then, by all means, PLEASE GO WORK FOR UPS and deal with the labor union and all of its wonderful policies and procedures. But then again, I'm sure many of the people who have posted on this discussion would prefer to be out of a job completely than to give up some of your BENEFITS. BTW, check the definition- a BENEFIT is a reward, not something that is earned...
I am an RN and work for one of the largest healthcare providers in the region, and the insurance provided by FedEx is much more competitively priced than what is offered by hospitals and physician's offices to their employees when comparing actual out of pocket consumer costs (premiums, deductibles, prescription benefits, etc). Also, many healthcare providers have different plans for different groups of employees- many pay 100% of out of pocket costs for physicians (the ones who have the highest incomes), while lower income employees have high copays and premiums. At least at Fed Ex, everyone has access to the same plans. Your Senior Vice President chooses from the same options and out of pocket expense that the package handler who was hired yesterday will choose from.
I guess what I am trying to say is PUT ON YOUR BIG GIRL PANTIES and stop complaining! The current movement is to encourage a healthy lifestyle, because almost all of the most costly health conditions can be eliminated by choosing a healthy lifestyle. Don't smoke, eat your fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins, lose some weight, and exercise. If you don't want to be hampered by out of pocket expenses for healthcare, the best thing to do is make the lifestyle changes that will decrease your risk for heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, diabetes, and cancer. We live in a culture that wants a pill to fix everything, unfortunately an aspirin a day won't keep the doctor away. We have become obese, lazy, apathetic. This is why healthcare costs continue to rise. It is far to easy blame Fred S or Obama or the Republicans- when you do this, you don't have to take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!!!

Yet another purple bleeder telling you guys you need to 'suck it up and be thankful'....

Honey, you give yourself away when you say when you state: "best coverage out there for any company that provides employment at LIVING WAGE (vs minimum wage) salaries for a workforce that is primarily made up of high school graduates with NO COLLEGE EDUCATION"

Let me translate for this presumptuous wench.....

Since you all are high school graduates who are not intellectually endowed enough to have obtained a REAL education (and get better insurance).... you better be thankful for what you have.

And as far as a 'benefit' being a 'reward' and not something that is earned....

This wench has gone from drinking the purple KoolAid to snorting the dry mix.

So take some PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and start drinking Fred's pre-mix KoolAid - you will be better off than those unionized UPSers who are just leeches on society.

And I keep telling you guys what you are up against and how the, "I've got mine, too damn bad you won't get yours" crowd is doing WHATEVER it can to keep you down.

oh and I just can't be reminded enough of how fortunate I am not to have to deal with any horrid labor union. How taxing that must be on mind body and soul every single day. I'm at the point where I can't even turn on the news anymore as it's so depressing hearing the daily tally of UPS employees that have jumped off bridges.

THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME FROM JIMMY AND HIS GOONS, FRED!... I LOVE YOU!

That's RIGHT!! UPS might get free health care, but they pay $6,000 per week in union dues!!So glad Fred protects us from all of that horrible stuff. You know, like 3-year topouts, a great retirement plan, and regular wage increases. Keep it away from us, Fred!!

I guess when you are illiterate, it makes you feel better to call people names like "WENCH" because you have nothing to add to the conversation.

"I've got mine, too damn bad you won't get yours" crowd is doing WHATEVER it can to keep you down. [/QUOTE]

Oh, Heck. Now I see that you are one of those who is so busy worrying about what everyone else is doing TO KEEP YOU DOWN that can't take responsibility for your OWN happiness. And you obviously don't live anywhere near the real world, or you would understand the "high school grad" statement. I know of no other major corporation that provides health insurance to part-timers (which most of the employees in your HUB are classified as), especially at the low out of pocket expense that is offered by Fed Ex.

"Since you all are high school graduates who are not intellectually endowed enough to have obtained a REAL education (and get better insurance).... you better be thankful for what you have."
Had you taken the time to READ, if you are in fact literate, you would notice that all of the "High school graduates" who are employed at Fed Ex have better insurance than what is offered to the nurse who will be administering your morphine and prepping you for your bypass when you have that heart attack that seems to be just waiting to happen...
In closing, yes, you SHOULD be thankful. Remember when you call in for refills of your anti anxiety medication (you might want to consider based on the hostility noted in your post) that you have better insurance than the nurse that is too busy taking care of people with real medical problems to return your call...

Got proof of nurses making six figures? And well in to the six figure range? Come on...

Maybe you should go to nursing school?

Someone's been lying to you... The nurses in your area are probably in the UNION- higher wages and job protection for all- even the ones who routinely DON'T adhere to minimum accepted standards of care. But if that's who you want taking care of your momma or mixing your daughter's chemo.... Enough said.

Yeah, I'm one of those former Express wage employees whose literacy is lacking in every regard. Again, you ASSUMED that wage employees (those with just a high school diploma), have issues with literacy. MORE of your sneering down your nose towards those who work for a living (while brushing away all that dry mix that you just snorted....

Oh, Heck. Now I see that you are one of those who is so busy worrying about what everyone else is doing TO KEEP YOU DOWN that can't take responsibility for your OWN happiness. I understood your 'high school grad' statement PERFECTLY. You were making a statement that those without post-secondary education should be 'mightily thankful', that they are getting, what they do indeed 'get' from Fred and Associates...

So which 'hub' are you referring to... The obvious one is Memphis, but I'm thinking you are referring to Newark.

And this is when the bull**** meter pegs out.

I'll let you in on something. My wife is a BSN who is about to finish her MSN.... See, I do know (through her) a few things about not only health care, but also health care administration. Nurses who work for health care facilities are provided with excellent health insurance (excluding publicly funded nursing homes). Employing care givers who have lousy health insurance doesn't make for providing very good health care - especially for the ones who are paying the bills when they come in for those imminently preventible conditions which could've been adverted by eating lots of veggies and getting off their butts.

Oh by the way, those package jockeys that you sneer down upon - are off their butts for at least 40 hours a week - running their butts off. The health care they need is due to the STRESS placed upon them by those who have more than a high school diploma - who have sold out to Fred all in exchange for a paycheck (and some dry mix for themselves and their spouses).

In closing, yes, you SHOULD be thankful. Remember when you call in for refills of your anti anxiety medication (you might want to consider based on the hostility noted in your post) that you have better insurance than the nurse that is too busy taking care of people with real medical problems to return your call...

No honey, YOU'RE the one who needs to be thankful that there are people in this world who are doing the real work that needs to be done while you can sit in an office, answering a telephone and spouting lousy advice from a script.

And if you have worse insurance than all these grubby high school diplomates - you might want to start looking for a better phone to work behind. You may also be provided with a better script too.

Less regulation and oversight means proper safety measures aren't taken leading to preventable mistakes.
