A rational person shouldn't be afraid of Ebola since you need to have prolonged contact to catch it. The nurse who went on a bike ride endangered no one since no one was in prolonged contact with her. Now, she should have known she'd be in the media about it since no one knows how it actually worked, and she set back the nation knowledge wise because of the knee jerk reactions of people with no knowledge of how it actually spreads. We are really not that far from burning witches at the stake. The general population is just as uninformed as then except the information is more available to the public now than at any other point in history so actually, we seem to be even worse. Ebola...swine flu...bird flu...it's always something.

Empathy is not sympathy. First get that right. Empathy is understanding why someone does what they do, it does not include agreeing with them. Next, yes, you do have to respect the people holding the gun. They may be evil and crazy but disrespecting a terrorist while negotiating gets you nowhere. It's a rule of negotiations.Respecting your enemies is a Biblical principal but even if you're anti Bible, it's still good policy as a humanitarian. I'm not a Hillary backer by any stretch of the imagination, but I saw this on Huckabee's Facebook page with the same argument. Personally I feel that recently he purposefully uses the fact that a lot of people don't understand the difference between empathy and sympathy and is using that to advance his position politically. It's evil in the highest degree and for him to be a former pastor this is reprehensible. But maybe he doesn't understand the difference either and that brings up a whole different set of problems.

Oh come on! I know they had to teach you context in school! Like I said, respecting (actually, loving your enemy) is a Biblical principal. If you disrespect a terrorist, or someone getting ready to jump off a bridge, or a crazy bum going crazy on a bus you are going to lose any kind peaceful negotiation. The terrorist will shoot, the jumper will jump, the bum will direct their crazy to you. Take it into context. Respect also has little to do with agreement. By all means hate Hillary, but hate her for actual reasons. She said nothing wrong in that context. Part of being "the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says, "Oh crap, she's up !!"" is putting this into practice.
