Illinois to go bankrupt?

Sure. But there has to be honesty involved. Can't spend, spend, spend and then cut taxes to "grow the economy".

Now a couple states over, Kansas with their republican governor is really doing well...oh...
Should've never spent, spent, spent to begin with. Then you can have reasonable taxes to begin with. The honesty/corruption/graft comes on when the money is flowing. That's why they all want to spend spend spend to begin with.

Van you really need to let go of this idea that governments don't spend, spend, spend. The state of Chic...I mean Illinois will be bailed out when the time comes. At that point we'll see if anything changes or it's like the Wall Street bailout and nothing changes.

How many times in history has a state been bailed out? What measures will be put in place to make sure it never happens again? This isn't Delaware, it's one of our biggest States with one of our largest cities. Never said states don't spend, but this is a very blue state with an economic outlook that drove it to this. At what point do they decide to try something different? Probably never because they're hooked on the generosity.

Why would they try something different? You act like it's a problem. It's just part of the system. Wall Street was too big to fail and now it's even more so. Illinois will be the same.

So we'll just keep throwing money away instead of fixing systemic issues? There's a plan!

Whom do you think taxpayer money ultimately belongs to? You aren't in third grade so be honest.
It's the misuse of taxpayer money that's the problem. Continuing to do what's been proven to not work is a variant of the definition of insanity. And by the way, if the bottom half of the income spectrum pays little to no tax then ultimately who does the taxes belong to?

Your taxes are owned by the government.

It will be fine

Maybe if Democrats regain control. Don't think the Republicans are interested in such a blue state. Obama wasn't a friend to Texas, and this is much bigger.
You don't think Trump would get blamed for the economic fallout of Illinois starting to default on its debts? If a state that big "fails" it would wreak havok on the entire economy.
