Is going slow the best way to make money at UPS?

The only one that steals time is the company. They say they are giving you 8 hrs of work, but they steal two hours of your life because It's actually 10 hours worth of work. I don't care that they pay you for it, it's still theft, because my personal time is worth much more to me than the OT rate. It's like giving the jewelry store guy a buck and walking out with a $5k diamond ring, sure you technically paid for it, but not the actual price, so it's still theft.

My observations were the company didn't care if you ran an hour over every day. Follow their trace and use every method taught and you will make plenty of money. Three hours over allowed every day paints a giant target on your back. When your Center Manager gets tired of the Division manager mentioning certain names, they start looking and documenting mistakes. Stealing time is an integrity issue and there is nothing the union can do for you. And I've seen shop stewards canned too.
The trace alone adds an extra 1.5 hrs to my day on average, and it gives me plenty of laughs.

@Kingofthenorth You don't need to play games and risk your job to make $. Just follow the trace. We've heard countless times over the years the company wants us to follow it. Trace and sound methods are an unbeatable combo.

Thank you for that Socialist lesson. "We pretend to work and they pretend to pay us."

LR Read Bull:censored2: Jobs it's my go-to piece for explaining labor as it exists in the moment. Busy people are peaceful people, after all. I can hardly last a few hours alone before throwing myself outside into the heat and (allergic) elements on my days off, mingling with heroin dealers, etc.

If I go fast and kill it all day finishing hours under, helping people after I finish my route i am told I gotta come in hours earlier than if I just go super slow and :censored2: around all day. So basically I make way more money doing half the work. On top of it, My center management is such an incompetent jackass that I see him as my enemy. We can't even keep any on-road supervisors at my center. They generally quit citing my center manager as the reason privately.
You will get hurt. There’s so many people here on disability. Do not hurt yourself for this company. You’re there for only one reason to make an income.

Serious question: do most centers actually care if driver’s follow trace/ORIEN? Mine never says anything about it, and it’s one of the very few things management will break character for and admit how stupid it is.

Another reason why it's a riot to follow trace

It's also care-free. Your shelf-sequencing makes no sense due to add-cuts and then the itinerary updates? No more thumbing through the reshuffled mess -- "Take the path of least resistance" LMAO. I'll never forget, when dynamic Orion came out another center manager in my building said, "This isn't about making things easier for you guys; it's about saving miles!" I drive an extra 10-15 miles a day on my route following the trace, update-for-update.

Deceptive manipulation of another’s previous quote.

IMO Very unscrupulous.

Please PM me if you ever want to talk about your troubles. If I can help I will.

Peace be with you.
Fluffy....you are in no position to offer anyone any "help" (as you call it). Here, this describes your passive aggressive predatory behavior because when caught, like with me calling you out, you may become aggressive and perhaps dangerous to others, small children, etc.

In 2002, 3,400 British AA groups voted to adopt a new code of conduct regarding predatory behavior, concluding, “Failure to challenge and stop inappropriate behaviour gives the offender permission to repeat the offensive behaviour and encourages others to follow suit.”

Your predatory behavior is being challenged and you need to stop.

This is a repeat of everyone else's observations but here goes:

I go at one pace all the time; not running, not dragging, just constant. I am always working on the clock. I may be organizing the truck or going through the DIAD, but you'll never catch me having a 10 minute personal phone call without coding it as break.

I run as close to 100% Orion that I can, but I will break trace for service related (straight air or business stops at the end of the day or closed between 12-1, etc) and rarely for safety as I can usually go a half mile around the block to deliver the other direction. Safety trump's miles any day. Going slow on purpose is stealing time and can lead to termination. Go constant, go in order, and follow the methods.

Retirement is VASTLY underrated
Work at a brisk pace, but DO NOT RUN and DO NOT SKIP BREAKS. Follow ORION 100% unless you are specifically directed not to do so. ORION works if the center management team knows how to use it, but either way, it is their responsibility. They can't have it both ways and you shouldn't enable them.

Why do you flame me? Your behavior reminds me of a bully. I have never done anything to you.

This false witness and slanderous statement should be reported but I won’t.

I hope you find peace.

I will continue to pray for you.

Peace be with you.

Fluffy, why do you need so much attention?
Get to a meeting and let those crocodile tears flow.
