Letter On Its Way....

Hey, I work in the DFW Airsort at DFW Airport. The HR manager came up today and verified everyone's addresses to make sure they are correct. She said we are all going to get a letter regarding important changes in the sort facility. Does this have much do to with night sort closing a few weeks ago? Even with night sort gone, we are still getting healthy volume. Moreover, my hours are still higher than when I first started despite of having 40 people in small sorts now.

What shall we all look forward to seeing in the mail now? Doubt it will be any layoffs due to the plant manager saying there will be none for those working in the building. Shed some insight please!

A little off thread, but I got a letter too! Every year they send out a letter asking if anybody wants to go into management. I got this yearly letter the other day and they are asking for sales reps too! I guess driver sales leads aren't doing that great........

It's probably just a letter from the higher-ups telling you that you are doing a Great job. They do that all the time:happy-very::winks:

Rod,
I actually got one of these a few weeks ago, it flipped me out! I got a letter from the District office and I just figured it was the annual pitch to try to get some management replacements or some other mass mailing. When I opened it up, the letter actually thanked me for doing a good job. It was signed by my OnCar, Center, and Division Managers. I was shocked. I asked my OnCar the next day about it, he said they didn't send out many of them.

BEWARE- They are up to something!!!!---- For the 1st 3 or 4 years after I started I got the daily brow beating about production and WHY couldn't I do better. After awhile it just goes in one ear and out the other. Then out of the blue my center manager came up to me one day and said "Rod" your doing a great job. I was speachless- I had NEVER heard that before. A couple of days later I pulled up to the pumps and was met by an district goon doing an audit. After asking all kinds of questions his final one was "Rod -when was the last time you were told you were doing a good job?" Then and there I knew what I was in for the rest of my career.

Ha, that was my first thought too, maybe I was going to get stugged for posting on here. I did crank out some unbelievable numbers in December. My OnCar was wanting to give me Driver of the Month but I didn't have a sales lead, one of the criteria. He thanks me all the time, if I ask a favor I will usually get it. Oh well, my picture doesn't get on the bulliten board and I don't get the special parking space........:dissapointed:

Years ago a center manager used to send us these types of letters once per year. Since he left I haven't ever got a letter of praise from UPS.

Hey Scratch. I got that letter as well. I think it was something they were doing in the Georgia District. Not everyone got one here either. I did get employee of the month in my center this month. Just like you, my hold up was getting a sold lead. I finally got one so my picture is up on the board. I'm surprised no one has drawn stuff on it yet. I have encouraged them to do so. :) I gave the spot to the runner up guy. He never wins anything so I made sure he got the spot.

Classy thing to do, I gotta rep you for that! A few years ago I got Driver of the Month and the little windshield sign to park in the special parking place. My sup was in charge of the program and nobody took it over when he transferred soon after that. I parked there for about six months before I stopped out of pure shame. This was before the sales leads program, not much opportunity on a 95% DR route.:ashamed:

Ya'll are talking greek again. What's this driver of the month thingie. You mean to tell me that the company actually acknowledges good drivers? No..............................not the company I work for. Silly me, I thought all this time that we all worked for the same company. Damn computer must have logged me into the alternate world BC. Where's my computer tech when I need him. :happy-very: I want my old BC back.

We get those "want to be a manager" letters once a year. I always figured everyone did.

I got mine this year and it was hand signed (as in 'really signed,' not just stamped.) In the past week, the center manager and 2 of the driver supes pulled me aside and told me that I am doing a great job and have a reputation as a driver that, "gets the job done well."

I really appreciate that kind of thing.

Not to worry, Dilli. I work where you work!

I received a really nice compliment from my center manager back last summer. He came up to me and said, " For a fatboy, your sure don't sweat much." That was the last one I have gotten.

The only thing my center manager ever said to me was "I don't see any reason to keep you here with the company if our doctor keeps giving you restrictions..."
