Hopefully 804 protected the right to 40 hour work weeks for RPCDs. There is no way in hell a new 22.4 should be able to work 40 while RPCDs sit. No way in heck.!

How many threads.... are you going to post this same thing in ?

No RPCD shall be laid off or displaced from the classification while 22.4 combination drivers are working in the building.

I understand the point of this language, and we haven't got there yet, but this does not necessarily "fix" anything.

Driver A is a 22.4 driver with a T-S schedule.

Driver B is a RPCD with a M-friend schedule.

There is not enough work on Monday for all the RPCD's for one reason or another, including packages delivered on Saturday by 22.4 drivers.

RPCD's get laid off on Monday, but there are no 22.4 drivers working on Monday since they have a T-S schedule. The language is not specific whether it means a combination driver working in the building on a given day the RPCD is laid off, or anytime at all. And we know the company will abuse the language if they can.

RPCD's also then do not have the right to "bump" a 22.4 driver on Saturday to try and get their 40 hours.

Driver A, a 22.4 driver, gets 40 hours.

Driver B, a RPCD, gets 32 hours.

Nowhere in the Master does it give the RPCD the right, on his non-scheduled day, Saturday or Sunday, to bump a 22.4, on his scheduled day, Saturday or Sunday, even though the RPCD was laid off on a Monday, his scheduled day.

A few of the supplements addressed this issue, but the Master did not.

RPCDs working a Monday through Friday schedule shall be guaranteed five (5) consecutive days of eight (8) consecutive hours per report and forty (40) straight time hours of straight time pay each week, if reporting each day as scheduled, as long as work is available.

All 22.4 combination drivers shall be guaranteed eight (8) consecutive hours of straight time pay per day, if reporting as scheduled. All 22.4 combination drivers shall work a five (5) consecutive day schedule of Tuesday through Saturday or Wednesday through Sunday. This paragraph shall supersede any Supplement, Rider, or Addendum on the same subject.

This following language is over and above any current 22.4 drivers already working on their scheduled day.

In the event the Company needs additional staffing to cover Saturday or Sunday ground deliveries, such work shall first be offered to RPCDs as set forth above,

Why couldn't the RPCD laid off on Monday, due to work not available on-road, work in building to make their 40 hours? Why is it assumed they must bump a 22.4 off of a route on a Saturday(end of week), or Sunday ( beginning of week), if it is deemed Monday their route/work will be cut

Because they will deliver as much work as possible in the weekend at a cheaper rate so they can cut more routes on Monday.

It would depend on your layoff language.

If you know Friday you will not have a route Monday then yes that's easy. If you dont know till you show up that work is not available then how do you get your 8?

Also the 10 hour rule may hurt you the next day.

All the old farts love getting laid off Monday’s anyway so I don’t see it changing much in all honelsty. Hell I’ll take a Monday off here and there too if they axe me, naw saying dawgs

Watch.... what happens.

How many damn times do you have to be told BUG?!?!?!

Your only response is, "Watch....what happens?!?!?!"

When it starts, once the contract is in effect, We all know what your response to us all telling you that you lied!

"it's the member's faults for not enough voting!"

We have been screaming about this since March 2018!

Good thing the contract negotiations were recorded.

You would think that if something was agreed to during negotiations, and recorded, that it would find its way into the printed version of the tentative agreement before it was even sent out for a vote.

There are Supplements actually addressing this issue. Allowing an RPCD laid of on Monday to modify his work week so as to get 40 hours.

So if the Master really doesn't mean what it says, why didn't the International say something to the Supplements about negotiating language that the Master actually means, but doesn't really say?

Touche....

I can certainly appreciate a sense of humor.

Life's boring without some humor ocassionaly.
