I was recently diagnosed with high blood sugar (type 2 diabetes). I was told by both my doctor and a nurse/instructor to eat at least something (low carb) in the morning to get my metabolism going in conjunction with my meds.

Different strokes.......
Every diabetic I know drinks Diet Coke like water, have you experienced such an urge yet?

It's absolutely a long held scientific dogma. And the science/medical community is really well known for quickly adopting new evidence that overrides dogma.

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
My kids have to get it for school.
Even the :censored2:ing flu shot?

Simply ridiculous. Just a way to line people pockets with more money. It's a :censored2:ing guess every year is all it is and study after study has shown they just aren't effective.

It's not like healthy kids are dropping dead of the flu left and right. I don't see why they ever even felt the need to develop it.

Nope.

It really doesn't bother me because I expected it to occur. My mother was diabetic for forty years, and still ate what she wanted for the most part.

I watch my carbs now and take my meds. I went from 9.4 a1c at first to 5.9 last Saturday. Still drink my beer and I'm happy.

Whch part are you having issues with?
The fact that you think it's the medical community that's behind the times. That's nuts.

Just look at mental health. The healthcare community begs people to seek help. As do insurance companies. But society, nope, you're a nutcase if you see a therapist.

The problem with diet or losing weight is there's a million different ways to get there and everyone and their brother thinks their way is best.

Eating 2 meals in a 4-5 hour window simply isn't going to work for a majority of people. They either mentally or physically just can't do it.

All you really have to do is consume less calories than you burn. That's it.

For me the best way is eating a small meal/snack every 2.5 hours.

Sorry, that's not what I was trying to suggest, but individual doctors, especially GP's, don't necessarily keep up with all the newest studies. As a result old dogma's can perpetuate throughout the medical field for a while. Atkins was about 20 years, or more, ahead of the times. Everyone thought he was nuts, and now all the studies are supporting his findings. It's not a phenomenon that is confined to medicine, or science. So I talk about the things that I find to be true, and respect others' right to do the same. It's generally a waste of time to try to change people's minds, though I do like to present different views and challenge assumptions.

I eat 3 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon or a couple sausage patties, with a couple pieces of buttered toast daily for breakfast.

Then I take an apple or two with a bananna and a little bag of mixed nuts for lunch.

Go home and eat like a horse again for dinner.
