Management: They Really Do Eat Their Own.

One afternoon I saw a Center Manager being escorted out of the building in handcuffs by a cop. Seems he was charged with falsifying time cards. A week later he was back on the same job, like nothing ever happened.

Here's a real tale about eating their own;
I had a Sat Air boss, who had already set his retirement date.
Well the Building Manager didn't like that, so every Sat he was to write up a 3 page letter on why any parcel was not delivered. It consumed all of his day on Sat. If it wasn't for some clerks taking over and running operations for him the Building manager would have won. That incident really showed how petty Management can be to each other.

In my small building, where the walls are thin and people talk and supervisors leave their email accounts open for all to see, we have seen or heard plenty of vile verbiage coming from upper management. Those conference calls can be heard through certain walls and we even had some of the center supervisors let us read emails they have received from the snakes at the district and regional levels.

There is no way I would be able to make management a career without snapping on one of those snakes and getting fired. Or worse. Most of them put on a façade when they visit a couple times a year but we still can tell what kind of people they really are. We’ve had a few that were such pieces of garbage that they wouldn’t even put on the façade at all and we would all walk away from PCM scratching our heads.

Anyone who has been a driver in the Midsouth within the past five years or so has probably encountered a certain big shot who would always talk about a guy getting sucked into a jet engine when he was in the Navy. Now that snake was a real winner! LOL.

He was going around to each center telling the jet engine story so we all expected that every time he showed up but one time he walks in there and proceeds to tell us about how his elderly father had fell off the roof and broke his hip or something. And how he didn’t ask him if he was OK but instead asked who was going to take care of his mom.

Then explained how he paid his sister to take off from her job to go take care of them. Apparently this guy thought he was so valuable to UPS (and apparently that his sisters job means nothing) that he can’t takeoff to take care of his own injured elderly father. I heard he was peddling this story all around the district and God knows where ever else. I don’t even wanna imagine how he talks to his underlings when hourlies are not around.

All we came here to do was deliver and pick up packages, not learn to play head games to survive to support our families and ourselves. Ridiculous work environment.

That’s why I always say I wouldn’t make a career out of management for triple pay. What I’d have to be compensated to put up with their BS would be too much of a hit on their financials.

I recall a PCM last summer where they went directly from, “stay hydrated, drink water, blah blah blah...” to “now let’s talk about overallowed...”
center manager got pissed when we laughed at him.

My favorite was a PCM and the "safety tip" by a pkg. driver. The tip was slow down in rainy conditions

and the on road could not jump in fast enough and tell everyone NOT to slow down. Classic.

A little different, but still on topic. My last day was last Friday. Almost 37 years in. My PT Supervisor and the hourlies in my work area put together a great send off party. No Manager or FT Sup came to shake my hand or say anything. I didn’t expect anything, but I have to admit, it hurt a little. PS, as a shop steward for the past 25 years, the Union didn’t show either....

Welcome to the club. As soon as you walk out the door on your last day you are forgotten by the company and the Union wants you to die as quickly as possible. Take care of yourself and have a great retirement.

No doubt that they werent officially invited?
Management (here) does the "inviting" and if your local does it's job upholding the cba (and I'm sure you did too) the company doesnt want them on property eating cake they bought.

In this environment the local union is plenty busy dealing with the garbage of current terminations, supervisors working, and payroll rip offs.

Hell, they can’t even find the time to show up here during elections. THEIR elections! Ha!

This has been going forever. I hope he wins. Everyone on the inside knows that managers are treated worse than dogs. I never had any sympathy because they took it. I told several to quit or fight.

Most had mental breakdowns if they didn't quit. One had a heart attack and died at 50 at our hub. The story is all too familiar.

They must not have thought it was worth their time ?
Potentially around 70 votes. But you are right. For the same reason presidential candidates tend to favor swing states and more populated areas. If we got rid of the electoral college they would only go to a handful of states to campaign. LOL

But it’s still silly to not make an appearance at as many locations as possible. What if their elections are close? Our last regime change saw people get voted out by members in many buildings. When candidates never show their faces it basically discourages many people from voting. And I think everyone would agree that has been a problem lately
