Nobody's stopping you from starting your own media outlet. It's not that media isn't decentralized, it's that consumption of media, in general, gravitates towards a small number of outlets. That is a function of the tastes of the consumers, and to change the system you have to offer a better alternative, or change the culture of the people you hope to reach.

Either way takes work, which is why many people, particularly those with socialist/communist leanings, prefer to demand legislative action to force the world around them to conform to their ideals. It's pure narcissism.

Employees want to own a company, they can start a company. Just because you get hired to work somewhere doesn't automatically give you the right to claim ownership over a company. I don't necessarily think it's a bad idea to partially compensate employees with shares of a company. But even then, you would have to work someplace for a while and be good at what you do for your vote to carry much weight. People who aren't even very good at sweeping floors probably shouldn't have much of a say in how a company is run.
