My response would be that I have empathy for the people trying to come to the US. I don’t feel that they are any less than me because they were born in another country.

I don’t know why people different from me don’t bother me as much as it seems to bother other conservatives.

I have always been a Republican because I believed in smaller government and more personal responsibility.

The Republican Party sort of lost me on the lack of empathy for everyone that isn’t like them.
