I'm not sure how any of this could possibly be my fault and reflect my intelligence. In my interview there were specific questions regarding the afternoon shift. I wasn't aware I was responsible for hiring myself and scheduling my work hours correctly.

You, as an adult, are responsible to verify your start time and get the name of the supervisor to whom you should report.

UPS normally uses military time. 4:45 is 4:45am. 16:45 is 4:45pm

Who was the person that you signed the paperwork with? I got hired recently as well (couple weeks ago) and the person that hired me said "Meet X here at the slide at 4:15". Name, location, time.

For PTers it is usually about 3 hours now. Run through some videos, sign a few papers, and give them the start time and supervisor's name.

Well at orientation the day before....when he told all of you your start times for today, was everyone supposed to show up at 4:45PM or were some AM and others PM?

UPS normally uses military time. 4:45 is 4:45am. 16:45 is 4:45pm

Avoids all the confusion; subtract 12 if the time looks unusual to you.

It's a 24 hour clock; midnight can be 2400 hours or 0000.

I also remember my two hours of training and 30 minutes of orientation. Then I was on my own.

Show up at 4:45. If he is there too early then come back again 12 hours later.

HR's email and phone hours are 5am to 5pm. I'm scheduled for 4:45. Tell me how this comment helps me. What large company does not have your scheduled work hours online?
