It's a wonderful place to work.

Opinions vary.

Uh......no.

I am not leaving because of the job. I am leaving because I have met all of the requirements for a full pension.

Of course, I could stay and change my user name to @scratch—-he is the one who insists upon over staying his welcome.
I assume you got the latest pension report? Good thing you squirreled away so much over the years. Your "full pension" will likely become "empty".

“Full pension “. What’s that really mean? To me, maybe 70K+ a year. I see guys retire with 4K a month, and think “that’s not a full pension.”

To me a full pension is the amount you would receive at age 65. Any amount less is only a partial pension.

70k from a pension ?

Look what happened to the UpstateNY fund.

Before normal retirement age, you are taking a 6% reduction per year.

So then you agree? If you retire @ 55 you aren’t getting a “full penion”.

I believe mine will be about 70K if I can hold out til 55.

First of all - Congratulations on your retirement. You worked hard, worked the hours and deserve all good things moving forward. I have one questions that I've been meaning to ask you for a while.
What happened to the Upstate/West NY pension? 20 years ago, it was the best (or second best) funded pension in the country. When everyone else got $3,000 a month, the Upstate NY pension increased to a monthly payment that was even higher. How did they manage to screw it up? I've read where you've posted that the pension today is in trouble. I know they moved the pension office from Utica to Syracuse. Was that change and the change is pension administration part of the problem?
