I've been told records are actually one of the higher quality renderings of a recording, even more so than a CD or mp3. I always wanted to sit down sometime with record player and look into it.

I don't even know Wut a pre- amp is!!!!!!That might be tough.
You'll almost certainly need a pre-amp with the proper outputs to connect to your stuff.
