Snow showers is just the chance of snow during that timeframe. If it snows once for 5 minutes that's good enough to fulfill the requirement.

I think we've already gotten the forecasted accumulation since the last time I got up to piss.

Can anyone explain to me how the hell you can call for six more hours of snow showers and accumulations less than an inch all in the same forecast?

No different than it misting all day and being a trace of rain. As opposed to a thunderstorm that can drop a few inches in no time.
