I just had a scare. It doesn't take long to realize your a/c stops blowing down here in Texas in the summer. I thought, man it's startin to get warm in here. it's raining here so that should cool it off. outside temp was only 82. All I need is an AC service call. Come to find out, the batteries in the thermostat went dead. 3 AAA's and we're back in bidness!:sweating:

Last year my a/c had a blown fuse. $3 part. If I had called a repair guy it would have probably been more like $150.

This guy has been honest with us over the years. Had a chance to rake us over the coals, but didn't. one year a lizard ran across the contacts and zapped himself. It caused a short. He showed me the lizard. Could have told me it was solenoid or anything. They ARE going to get their service fee, no matter what though. I was glad to avoid that. I'm not allowed to touch the thermostat. I told my wife it should have blinked that the battery was getting low or something. She told me it had. DUH!

We have very few air-conditioning problems around here---but furnace problems are a different story.
