97 was the big strike.
Yep.. I had to manage the pre-loading, drive through a picket line, take out a route, complete pick-ups, unload my package car and then fizzle in the office for a few and do it all over again. Two weeks of pure fun... :crying:.. All to save your jobs because Ron Carey was a spoiled brat.:devil2:

nowhere special
I had places I knew were shipping packages that were too heavy but they would swear they were only 149 or so. Since I didn't have a scale on my truck I pretty much had to pick them up. Sometimes I would weigh them at another pick up but I got to the point I didn't care. It was on my truck and someone else's problem. I would tell management but usually they did nothing about it.

Pretty sure you could refuse. Safety issue.
Contract states this:

Packages over 150 pounds shall not be picked up. However, if such a package is discovered in the UPS system, the package shall not be handled by a bargaining unit employee unless such package can be reasonably broken down into packages which do not exceed 70 pounds.

That’s Craptacular
It would appear we have went backwards or at best stayed even.
Nah....not the drivers....the PTers.

My friend started at UPS in 1986 as a PTer...making $8/hr when minimum wage was around $3.25 an hour. I started at UPS in 2006 at 9.50/hr...and minimum wage was I think around $7.
1.50 increase in starting pay in 20 years??
