Fight the power.
I've got some experiences and I'm really lucky to be where I'm at. Going to that Mansfield Reformatory for 8 years every other Sunday for 5 to 6 hour visits was a very bad thing to see as a youth. The stuff at home was bad as well. I look at my kids and thank God they aren't gonna go through that. Just knowing that they won't see stuff like that makes me feel so good. Kinda like it never happened. If I had it all to do over again I would go back in time and try and stop my father before he did what he did. At four I don't know if I could of, but I wish I did. You never know though I could have lived a privileged life and be worse off.
My grandparents lived in a very bad area. One day when visiting my grandmother got "mugged" in her own driveway for her purse. I was only 8. Wasn't much I could do but watch her scream. Sometimes it strengthens you.

I remember going to the middle school dance in my parachute pants getting my dance on. We had a routine to can't touch this. Had a line shaved in my head.
