Electricity is not free and certainly not pollution free.
Power Plants do have scrubbers on them so maybe not as much CO2 pollution to produce the electricity to power all those electric cars.
Hydrogen powered cars are still a good non-polluting solution albeit extremely expensive.

But there is a big industry to recycle batteries although as you say, there are toxic chemicals used and produced to recycle.

I would take any V8 dodge, corvette or mustang muscle car over a stupid ass Tesla. Especially once you get into the supercharged V8’s cranking out 700+ hp off the lot.

For the money electric cars and motorcycles just aren’t worth it. Maybe that new Tesla roadster will change my mind, but I doubt it.
