Yeah, those coal miners/steel workers/longshoremen/etc have it so much easier than we do.
yes they do...longshore workers, never touch any off-loads......it's all mechanized............it's the same for steel-workers, the present steel-workers are not your Dads steelworkers...less physical labor, more HANDS-OFF operations....there is not a single individual involved in a ladeling, or pouring operation.....it's all mechanized, and computer driven........the only manpower involved..is in clean-up, mold breakdown and mold changes, or die operations....the days of hundreds of workers operating a mill are history.......the same for the Longshoreman....as far as coal miners, I'm not sure...it seems to be a heavily labor intensive operation

Our local requires 30 years of service and a minimum age of 55 to receive a full pension. I will be 58 when I get my 30 years and, unlike want to retire, I will have no financial constraints that will prevent me from retiring. I will retire in April 2019!!
Perhaps you could team up with Suze Ormann and provide everyone with financial advice so we can all join you?

upstate, appears to be correct on 1 out of 3 of his observations..........if you keep this up over a period of time ( batting .333 ), you might be considered for entry into your own Hall of Fame...that's provided that Viagra, is not considered a PED

forced to retire in 2012, after over 2 years on disability....i lost my health care coverage, for myself and my daughters...I did the COBRA coverage, if you need it...it's available............now that I'm retired, and that I'm 55 yrs. of age.....I'm covered. However I had to pickup an additional policy for my daughters

I finally broke down and signed a feeder bid list. The situation in delivery here has gotten so bad over the last couple years and there's no end in sight so I'm ready to give something else a try.

47, been humping it for 17 years and plan on serving another 10 years, Lord willing. I think 27 years is more than enough. All in all it's been a pretty good life, though the decision making from up above is definitely making this job WAY harder than it needs to be.

About to turn 61. Retired at 55 with 32 years fulltime. And it's been the best 5 years of my life.
Please don't stay any longer than you need to. You'll never regret leaving as soon as possible.
I promise.
