Check the vehicle registration. Most states require the empty GVW to be listed.

The Gross Vehicle Weight is the sum of the empty weight of the vehicle plus the weight it was designed to carry. That would include cargo, fuel and passengers. You can register a vehicle with less than the designed GVW but you cannot register it for a greater GVW. (Some companies do this to save on registration costs)

The GVWR is printed on a sticker somewhere near the driver door. Not sure about the GVW.

Who cares about weight! The term GROSS definitely applies to most package cars.
