Im far away from retirement, but did nobody do the roth? Its better to do the roth if you are going to end up with a good number for retirement. The pension alone puts most people in the 2nd bracket. Add in SS plus investments you easily could be at 22 or 24%

I do the pretax in my 401k. I have a separate ROTH IRA.
