Cali is what you make it. If you're a whiney Left or Right person who come on the internet and complains about a state that is over 2k miles away you got bigger issues than just one state.
It's a investment when it the prices goes up steadily every year and can bounce back when I housing bubble bursts.

Sad thing is though, that a lot of of stupid decisions that are made in California effect ALL of us, like this one that will cause bacon prices to rise to over $9 a pound.
Supply and demand is a new concept for you I'm assuming. The price wouldn't be that high if people weren't paying it.
