If you retire today at 66 you'll have your entire Social Security contribution withdrawn by age 72. Hope you don't live long.
I want programs that spend a lot of money without results to end. I don't want people in the prime of their life making a living on government handouts. And I don't want non-citizens receiving billions in assistance. We have plenty of citizens, homeless vets for example, who should be getting help. As for social security, it was designed to be there for us after a lifetime of work and contributions. It was designed by Democrats in a time before they embraced welfare and abortion and every other odd proclivity known to man. I expect to get my share of it just like everyone else. And will take it to where it'll provide a decent living. You want to sit in front of the tv and grouse about how unfair life is have at it.
You will never live long enough to impose your version of morality on the American people. The Religious Right tried that with little or no success. Now when you go to Colombia assuming that to be true I suggest that you stay there and try to impose you morality and religious views on those people and see how far you get. And when you get a chance take a trip out to the rural parts of the nation and see the poverty in which many Colombian people live and ask yourself the question: Is it moral to bring more new lives into a world where they can't due to changing weather patterns and diminishing resources provide for the ones who are already here?
Where did I ever say I'm going to impose my view of morality on anyone? And as a citizen I have just as much right as other citizens to voice my beliefs on how things should be done. You're the one who wants to shut down freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
Wrong. You have your views on what you think is morally just and what isn't . That in and of itself is fine but what you can't do is to pass laws based solely upon evangelical religious views the law of the land. The entire Kansas law that was struck down was due to blatant discrimination driven by a certain morality grounded in evangelical religion .

Not true. If I took that money over all these years and invested it I would do a lot better. I'm paying into this system so that those who don't work as hard as I did have a safety net.

As I said, I have my views just as you have your views. I've only lived in Kansas for a short time and had nothing to do with laws past. But you insist I have no right to openly express my beliefs. The Constitution guarantees me the right to express my views just as much as it does you your views. What matters is if enough people express a view that their representatives pass laws to please their constituents. Whether those laws pass muster in the courts remain to be seen.
We're all paying so that we all have a safety net. A lot of people work very hard for very little and their Social Security check will reflect that. But it's still a check that they need very much.
The idea of privatizing Social Security was brought up by Bush.......just ahead of the worst recession in 80 years. One thing about paying into Social Security you're not paying management fees which can be substantial especially when dealing with small account balances. These are the two main reasons why you don't hear much about privatizing Social Security anymore.

Medicaid was an erroneous inclusion in your position ... Medicaid is for the poor and indigent who did not pay into a program in order to receive the benefits.

You most definitely have a right to express those views but Christianity will never become America's official state religion. If you want to live in a totalitarian theonomy run by a bunch of unelected clergy be my guest but despite the best efforts on the part of bible thumpers it will not be the United States.
A sizable share of Medicaid's budget goes to pay for the care of people in nursing homes whose own funds have been exhausted. 62% of of all nursing home patients in this country today are on Medicaid. And don't try to tell me that they just laid around and did nothing and contributed nothing all their lives.
Except no one is pushing for that. Well, the Muslims would like to see Sharia law. But they aren't Christians so you'll be more charitable to them. You're always pushing the extreme position that is never going to happen.
Past efforts on the part of preachers to gain political power have been rejected outright. Now we have the SC congressional race where an individual in the employment of a congressional candidate who happened to be a Baptist preacher is being accused of election fraud. The question is, did the preacher candidate knew that the man is his employment was doing what he was accused of doing?
