General Lee and outsiders who were never confederate soldiers became somehow convinced that they were being slighted.

I don't know why they just didn't offer to buy the statue and move it to one of their racist strongholds. Maybe @Monkey Butt 's front yard?

which if I remember correctly then led to other outsiders deciding they were offended by those who felt they were slighted.

He speaks off the cuff....just like most people do ....might not sound politically correct at the time ....but does make sense ....and for those butt hurt people that wanted Hilliary elected it's a field day for feeble retricte

or he speaks tongue in cheek which the media then presents as a serious comment in an effort to embarrass the president.

And they did demonstrate their hatred and bigotry. And most people rejected it. The president, however, can't separate in his mind good from evil and thus lumps all violence as one.

its hard to tell the goods when they wear masks , carry clubs, burn flags and throw urine balloons. Could you get them to at least wear a Tshirt that says they are the good guys?

Regrettable. But they did vote to do it. Perhaps the Nazi rally folks could have offered to buy it and relocate it. Or maybe they already have a bunch of them. Because let's face it, the decision wasn't made overnight and nobody cared until the Nazis got all butt hurt about it.

liberals always make dismissive excuses

No.... but what I posted ...was recently after that .... and I am sorry for not telling you where etc ... cause I am not sure ...but it was recent last week or so
The one with protesters tearing down the statue was in Durham. NC passed a state law that said local municipalities couldn't remove civil war monuments. Local votes being overruled by the state house made the locals take matters into their own hands. Hundreds happily admitted to taking part in the vandalism and turned themselves in to local authorities.

There are plenty of heroes worthy of memorializing from the civil war, why do people want the statues to be of the traitors? Why can't the same history lesson be taught with a statue of freed slaves?
