That’s why UPS was able to not only attract, but retain quality drivers. When I started it was competitive. The company had the benefit of having a lot of people that wanted the job. The job was brutal, not for everyone, but the company threw money at you. Tough enough to do this sht? We will pay you! Having said that, it’s out of control. Money isn’t the only factor. The toll it takes on the body and your quality of life is big. You ain’t taking anything with you. You don’t have an infinite amount of time. Retire if you’re able.I'd rather do this than that only last so long.
Driving back from your last stop for 60 miles, in the cold dark, and clocking off at 9 after getting beat to death on secondary roads all day wears thin fast if you're not making your bills.
The grocery store guy was in a heated isle and went home at 4.
