Racism rears its ugly head

Strength through joy
On Thursday, a town hall meeting hosted by Al Sharpton and the National Action Network to address gun violence exploded into a revolt against “Chicago Machine” politics, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and the aldermen in City Hall, with panel and audience members calling to vote out their elected officials.
One 82-year-old preacher even called for “Tea Party” style meetings in some of Chicago’s south side communities such as Altgeld Gardens and Trumbull Park.
“This was first time since electing Mayor Harold Washington in the eighties that all of these grassroots groups and community organizers have come together under one roof to talk about the problems plaguing our community.”
While the stated goal for Sharpton was to bring the many different groups together to discuss solutions to the city’s violence epidemic, he may not have gotten the types of responses he was looking for. Calls for more gun control laws and getting guns off the streets were nonexistent and not mentioned by residents throughout the session.

Instead, attendees offered solutions addressing the problems facing their community as a whole rather than just taking on “gun violence” itself. Audience members addressed the need for jobs and solving the foreclosure crisis plaguing Chicago’s south and west sides. Perhaps the loudest message—and one that Reverend Al or the Chicago media have yet to report on—echoed by several different people in attendance as well as panel members was that it is time for the black community to start voting differently.

“The manner in which we have been voting needs to change,” Wendy Pearson, an activist against Chicago school closings, told the room. “I’m here to say to you that we have been trained to vote in a specific manner… we need to start looking at the manner in which our elected officials have been voting… if they have not voted in a manner that is beneficial to you, yours, and your community, then you need to start voting them out.”

On 2nd try, grand jury indicts white cop
Black mob gathers nearby as authorities overturn 1st decision clearing officer .

The decision angered the NAACP and other black leaders who threatened to boycott the city if it didn’t indict the officer. State authorities vowed to swiftly impanel a new grand jury and resubmit the charge.

And so on Monday, as civil-rights activists loudly marched outside the Charlotte courthouse, a re-impaneled grand jury agreed to indict Charlotte police officer Randall Kerrick in the racially and politically charged case, which in many ways mirrors the Trayvon Martin case.

Kerrick, who claims self defense, now faces up to 11 years in prison if convicted of the charge. His trial is expected to begin within eight months.

“We are thankful that the grand jury carefully considered the evidence and returned the indictment,” said Charles Monnett III, the attorney for the family of 24-year-old shooting victim Jonathan Ferrell.

Kerrick’s lawyer argued the nearby demonstrations compromised his client’s chances at a fair hearing.

Kerrick was charged in connection with the Sept. 14 shooting death of Ferrell, a former Florida A&M football player who dashcam video shows violently charged Kerrick and other police officers.

Kerrick repeatedly fired at Ferrell with his gun after a Taser failed to stop him and after Ferrell failed to show his hands. Though Ferrell was found later to be unarmed, Kerrick and others who viewed the video insisted the use of force was justified.

The police chief, who is African-American, still has not released the results of the toxicology report.

A 911 tape reveals a frantic call from homeowner Sarah McCartney, who was home alone with her 1-year-old son while her husband was traveling. Through tears, she reported Ferrell trying to kick in her front door in what she thought was an attempted robbery. Banging and yelling can be heard in the background.

“I need help!” McCartney can be heard pleading with the operator. “There’s a guy breaking into my front door, he’s trying to kick it down!”

The 911 tape refutes the initial narrative told by the NAACP and the media, who claimed an injured and stranded Ferrell rang McCartney’s doorbell seeking help only to have McCartney slam the door shut after seeing a black man.

Experts say they’ve never seen a police officer charged so swiftly in a shooting. Normally investigations into police shootings take weeks, if not months.

Cat got your tongue, MSNBC?

Via Business Standard:

Bill Maher has referred to Barack Obama as “President Blackula” and “Brownie” during a national television appearance.

During an interview with Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show”, the 58-year-old American stand-up comedian explained that Republicans don’t wholly support New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie because of his complimentary reach-out to President Obama after the hurricane hit, the WashingtonTimes reported.

He spoke about the 44th and current President of the United States in a derogatory manner while describing how Christie thanked him profusely for the federal response and aid.

Keep it in context moreluck. taking words out of context isnt right. Why dont you post what Maher "CLEARLY" was talking about??

I know it sounds alot better when you take things out of context ,like "we have to pass the bill so WE can find out whats in it" like you did in another thread.

Find something more useful to post.

So, Bill Maher didn't say those things? Tell me in what context he called Obama President Blackula ?....I might want to use that one and I want to be sure to use it properly because apparently it's OK as long as it's in a certain context.

MAHER, was "imitating" a republican speaking about Christie Hugging President Obama. The context...

Mr. Maher was explaining to Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” why Republicans don’t wholly support New Jersey’s Gov. Chris Christie, in part because of the governor’s complimentary reach-out to President Obama after the hurricane hit. Mr. Maher’s point: Many in the GOP still dislike Mr. Christie, just because he cozied with Mr. Obama and thanked him profusely for the federal response and aid.

But his words, Raw Story reported: “After Hurricane Sandy, as we all know, [Christie] hugged President Blackula, so, you know, he’s got Kenya cooties on him. It’s the worst thing you can do as a Republican. [Christie] actually praised him. He put his arm around him and said, ‘You’re doin’ a heck of a job, Brownie!’ “

Mr. Maher’s appearance on the show was marked by other similarly insulting quips. For instance, he said former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had little to offer the Republican Party outside of anger and a mean character, Raw Story reported.

He said her only other trait that set her apart from other Republicans was that she was “the least qualified public official since Caligula nominated his horse,” the media outlet reported.

THESE are the kinds of things MAHER does when doing comedy. He WASNT CALLING president Obama BLACKULA, he was Mimmicking a republican saying those things after Christie hugged Obama during the hurricaine cleanup.

Get your facts straight moreluck.

Oh Yeah
I got 6 guys at work that are my boys that I trust undeniably. 2 guys are black, 1 is Puerto Rican and 3 white dudes. Funny how that is huh lol. People make a bigger deal of race than what it really needs to be. ITS 2014 people need to get over the whole race thing. Bad seeds in every walk of life, that's for sure.

"Get over the whole race thing" is a message that is not rec'd by TOS, bbsam and others. It's always about race to them. You cannot disagree with a Jew or else you are anti-Jewish.
It's their defense mechanism....when cornered with facts, just pull out the race card and the other person will back off.........well, no more.
