Thomas Jefferson himself could not separate his faith in Jesus from his role in government.

He asked for God's spirit of wisdom to guide the people's actions in government and boldly said God's Law will be the mar.

Enough of the separation of church and state arguments.

Jefferson said that God's Law was the basis for government decisions.

Today, we call evil good and good evil. We suck babies brains out and call it planned parenthood. The list goes on and on of ungodly acts that are now "legal"....for the health of the mother.
Perversion is now the norm.

God help us.

"But while this syllabus is meant to place the character of Jesus in its true light, as no imposter himself, but a great reformer of the Hebrew code of religion, it is not to be understood that I am with him in all his doctrines. I am a materialist; he takes the side of spiritualism; he preaches the efficacy of repentance towards forgiveness of sin; I require a counterpoise of good works to redeem it...... Among the sayings and discourses imputed to Him by His biographers, I find many passages of fine imagination, correct morality, and of the most lovely benevolence; and others, again, of so much ignorance, so much absurdity, so much untruth, charlatanism and imposture, as to pronounce it impossible that such contradictions should have proceeded from the same Being. I separate, therefore, the gold from the dross; restore to Him the former, and leave the latter to the stupidity of some, and roguery of others of His disciples." -- Thomas Jefferson: letter to William Short, April 13, 1820

Where did you hear this? FOX news?

If Jefferson was a christian, why did he "REDACT" the bible and congress, the senate and george washington get sworn in on the "jefferson bible" and NOT the holy bible?

Christians in this country try so hard to make this country a christian nation, but history proves differently.

the american version of the taliban.

Jefferson actually wrote:

"And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerve in the brain of Jupiter. But may we hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away with this artificial scaffolding, and restore to us the primitive and genuine doctrines of this most venerated reformer of human errors. Jefferson imfamously wrote and often MISQUOTED by GLEN BECK:

"Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because, if there be one, he must approve the homage of reason rather than of blind-folded fear. Do not be frightened from this inquiry by any fear of its consequences.... If it end in a belief that there is no god, you will find incitements to virtue in the comfort and pleasantness you feel in its exercise and in the love of others it will procure for you."
--Thomas Jefferson, to Peter Carr, August 10, 1787

That’s Craptacular
My intelligence as a gun owner was insulted back in '08 when McCain...who I was actually considering voting for...trotted Palin out as VP. The assumption was that myself and all other gun-owning males would take one look at Palin, get boners, and vote for her and McCain. I throw up in my mouth just a little bit when I think about Sarah Palin having the launch codes to the largest nuclear arsenal on earth.

With respect, your posts of what Jefferson "said" and "did" are but portions of the whole story that anyone can read by googling "positiveatheist.com thomas jefferson quotes" and read the vast statements and letters he made and wrote that were actually saved and many entered into the Smithsonian Institute.
First, his "bible" as you call it was just a "little book" (Jefferson's own statement) that he cut and pasted actual scriptures into. The verses are the teachings of Jesus and other verses that inspired him and others to live a Christlike lifestyle.
He never edited any verses. He just saved them as written so your assertion that he had a different bible (Jefferson Bible) is unresearched on your part or propagation of a "truth" twisted to support your beliefs or lack thereof.

Second, Jefferson hated the oppression of forced religion and the oppression of government meddling in the church the same. All his writing depict this and it is irrefutable evidence to he fact that he claimed to be a Christian, mentioning Jesus and His teachings many times as the mar of truth.

However you believe is each persons choice and Jefferson supported that vehemently but he also proclaimed Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Read Jefferson's letter to Charles Thomson on Jan 9,1816 that is still available in his own handwriting and parchment and you can see a small glimpse of his faith in God and his anger with the Platonist's assertions against his faith.

The phrase that all men are created equal and endowed with certain inalienable rights from their Creator (paraphrased).... where did that come from and who said that?

We can cut and paste portions of anyone's statements or writings to support our point of view but when the whole story is told we look foolish. There's more info from his autobiography on comeandsee.com Thomas Jefferson Autobiography.

Jefferson proclaimed himself to be a disciple of Jesus. Read all his info before you slander the dead.

You are so uninformed. Public education? I can't believe you can compare Christians to the Taliban. Dumb, beyond belief.

Religious Right groups and their allies insist that the United States was designed to be officially Christian and that our laws should enforce the doctrines of (their version of) Christianity. Is this viewpoint accurate? Is there anything in the Constitution that gives special treatment or preference to Christianity? Did the founders of our government believe this or intend to create a government that gave special recognition to Christianity?
The answer to all of these questions is no. The U.S. Constitution is a wholly secular document. It contains no mention of Christianity or Jesus Christ. In fact, the Constitution refers to religion only twice in the First Amendment, which bars laws "respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," and in Article VI, which prohibits "religious tests" for public office. Both of these provisions are evidence that the country was not founded as officially Christian.
The Founding Fathers did not create a secular government because they disliked religion. Many were believers themselves. Yet they were well aware of the dangers of church-state union. They had studied and even seen first-hand the difficulties that church-state partnerships spawned in Europe. During the American colonial period, alliances between religion and government produced oppression and tyranny on our own shores.
