A utility driver in my area is a seniority full time driver without a route. That's what I took from it ya troll...

...which is why you should read all of the previous posts in the thread before posting...

I am a bit surprised that they have the OP working the preload and running a full route. My loader will sometimes be asked to run a split route but never a full one.

I don't believe he is. I believe he is working preload and every so often they will schedule him to drive for a week or ask him the day before to come in to drive instead of preload.

He said he is in the West like me and that's usually how it works.

Click on the link and download both the national contract and your supplemental rider. What city are you in?

Okay so I downloaded both of those thank you for the information. Which section do you think I would find the correct info for my situation. Seniority?
So what do you work, like 14 hours?

Yes I have worked 14 hr days before. I just cannot go over my DOT hrs. Which is 12 hrs driving in a day or 14 hrs in a day punch to punch. I drove on Thursday after my preload shift and when I punched out after driving I had 13 total hrs for the day

The seniority section says nothing that could help me in my situation of my sup saying that my coworker has route knowledge over me

Are you part time or full time? Also you should always call your Business Agent and get your advice there. Coming to a forum like this can be a treasure trove, wealth of information, but your elected local officers are your best resources.

Part time. That will be my plan if I am in the right and decide to take action about it. But I don't want to make waves cause a scene or have my supervisors and coworker dislike me if they are correct about him having route knowledge. Then it will just Mae it look like I was complaining.

Honestly your best advice from here on out will result in calling your local, and discussing the matter with the Business agent. They are there to help you, and protect your seniority rights. You have to be the one that reaches out though.

I work preload and am a utility driver. I have a coworker on preload that is also a utility driver but lower than me on the seniority list. This coworker has driven the same route almost every day for the last two months and I have driven random routes only five days in the last two months. My supervisor tells me that the reason my coworker has been driving so much more than I have is because he has route knowledge. The route that he is driving is the same route he drove last peak season. Is this how it works? Route knowledge? I thought seniority takes place over anything? It just doesn't make sense to me. I could learn the route in two days and then I would have route knowledge as well.
The company needs crap is a way for the sups to not take you out to train on a route... They used to send you out blind years ok... Then the Edd and Orian systems came out (WHICH THEY SAY THE SYSTEMS ARE BUILD TO SEND A NEW DRIVER OUT BLIND), now they have to have a sup come out with you, unless they think you can do it (Runner)... You can win this one! You just have to be able to go the distance on it... The company wins with the company needs crap because not many members want to push any buttons with management... Good luck and keep us posted.
