Seriously NPR had experts on that reported how many hundreds of weather balloons are crossing the skies everyday and airport radar have no idea even when they are told where they are. We would not have known about the balloon except for visual contact by civilians. The Japs during WW II sent over 9k incendiary balloons to start massive fires in the Northwest US. It was a failure.
