Spy Cam

I am a package driver for FedEx Groud and in each of the trucks there is a Janus Cam installed. Videos - Janus Cam.

Do all UPS trucks have some kind of Spy Cam? If so, how do you feel about it? After watching the demos of what the camera can capture, it makes me feel uneasy. It can also pick up all audio. I feel like there is no trust and I am always really self conscious that someone is always watching me.
I found out recently ups has got a fart censor in my seat.

Are you doing your job or doing something you are not supposed to be doing? Do your job and you'll have no issues.

So you never pick your nose, scratch yourself or "adjust" yourself while driving? We had a practical joker put a dab of 5-wheel grease on a feeder drivers the shift knob one night. The poor guy walked into the truck stop café later that night with grease all over his face and the crotch area of his pants.

Fed-Ex isn't doing it. The person who contracts the routes from them is installing them.
Janus cams can be bought on Amazon and UPS/Fed-Ex would not put after-market equipment in their vehicles.

I didn't realize they had keyless start back when these trucks were made.

You isolate any clip and you can make things look much worst than they really are.

Lets have all sups put camera's on so we can watch them all day too.

UPS retro-fitted every package car in the fleet with an aftermarket keyless start, keyless bulkhead and rear door unlock, rear mounted camera and full telematics.

And, for a short period of time, they had cameras installed on yard bird mirrors, facing backward, in Lexington.

I have seen interview of swift manager saying that they have cameras that kick on if the driver goes over the fog line for so mAny seconds or in the event that the brakes are applied really hard...thinking that an accident might happen to catch driver sleeping /distracted or another vehicle causing an issue... Not sure if ups has the same thing

They do not record video, but they record every instance of an abnormality in the Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support and the Lane-Keeping System.

I have heard of drivers being "talked" to, asked about sleeping habits, when their reports showed excessive lane violation warnings.

I know that there are many reasons for this and UPS really cannot do a thing about it, but I heard that one guy had almost 200 lane violations, wandering over his lane marker, in one night, with only one construction zone along his route.

I was talking about buying something that we could buy on Amazon and wiring it in the car.
Bad choice of words on my part.

Most of the industry cab cameras are on and can be viewed from a computer. The computer automatically records anytime the brake is applied too quickly. The 8 seconds before and after the incident of braking are recorded somewhere from my understanding. This is supposed to be a record for accidents and identifying drivers following too close. I had a buddy that lost his job(not Brown) because he was eating a sandwich while he was driving. He went the route of State law about recording and lost. The Company had told all the drivers that they were in the cabs so both parties knew. No Violation.

That's funny, I eat my lunch(usually a sandwich) everyday behind the wheel when I have a runner - it is highly looked upon.

I kind of knew what you meant. Although, you may not be able to buy these systems on Amazon, but anyone can buy them, not just UPS.

Reminds me of the Jackwagon from Corporate that ordered the new twin screw diesel International tractors without the auxiliary power outlet (cigarette lighter.)

They came with the wiring harness for them behind the dash. Local automotive just had to order the outlet and plug it in.

Corporate refused to let them do it until they approved it. Took them 2 months to approve local automotive to buy a $10 outlet and plug it in.

They probably needed to save $$ since someone splurged on armrests for all our new Kenworth's. I bet heads rolled for that mistake. :)

I didn't say it was right or wrong but I know my center has sent messages saying that 2 hands on the wheel all the time. PCM's given that no drinks or food can be ingested while the vehicle is running. Anyone with any time in the Company drinks while at a light or stopped in traffic during the Company. They recently started the warning letters for "failure to follow methods and procedures" along with "failing to follow direction" for doing just that. The Local has backed them down everytime but they are following the practice in the district. Some of the other Locals haven't been as smart. Tell me to stay hydrated while they tell me to not drink on the car, and not stop without calling it a break to hydrate. Two faced buttwipes.
