The opposition was just waiting us out because america voted for your rhetoric in Obama and Trump. Deescalation in Afghanistan, withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. You idiots turned it into a stand off when it could of been steam rolling them. Started releasing Taliban leaders from gitmo. Ridiculous. We are still at war with the Taliban right now, their culture doesn’t recognize peace with infidels.

Right you’re fighting ideology. Not a country. If anything the more you press them the more people you bring to their cause.
You can’t win a war against something like that that simply moves to another remote part of the world and recruits more people. At least not with guns and force for sure.
This is a number of similar types of wars that have ended the same way since ww2.

I was saying that after we ended up staying in Iraq. Go in, complete the mission, then go home. Stupid to end up as a hostile occupying force. And Afghanistan situation was many times worse than Iraq.
