PARIS (AP) — The French Senate has voted overwhelmingly for a bill banning the burqa-style Islamic veil everywhere from post offices to streets, in a final step toward a making it law.
The Senate voted 246 to 1 Tuesday in favor of the bill, which has already passed in the lower chamber, the National Assembly.
Any dissenters have 10 days to challenge the measure in the Constitutional Council watchdog, but that is considered unlikely.

(Seattle Weekly)You may have noticed that Molly Norris’ comic is not in the paper this week. That’s because there is no more Molly.
The gifted artist is alive and well, thankfully. But on the insistence of top security specialists at the FBI, she is, as they put it, “going ghost”: moving, changing her name, and essentially wiping away her identity.
She will no longer be publishing cartoons in our paper or in City Arts magazine, where she has been a regular contributor.
She is, in effect, being put into a witness-protection program—except, as she notes, without the government picking up the tab.
It’s all because of the appalling fatwa issued against her this summer, following her infamous “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day” cartoon.
Norris views the situation with her customary sense of the world’s complexity, and absurdity. When FBI agents, on a recent visit, instructed her to always keep watch for anyone following her, she responded, “Well, at least it’ll keep me from being so self-involved!” It was, she says, the first time the agents managed a smile.

Mendhar (AsiaNews)A mob of Muslim radicals have tried to burn a school with a Christian name (St. Francis School), unaware that it is governed by Muslim and Christian in name only. The police managed to stop the arsonists, but fired into the crowd, killing four people and wounding 19.
Mgr. Peter Celestine, bishop of Srinagar tells AsiaNews: “The so-called St Francis School has nothing to do with Catholic Protestant or evangelical institutions. They only use the Christian name to attract students. This shows that even for the local Muslims, Christian educational institutions have a very high standard”.

LOS ANGELES Sonia Nassery Cole knew that shooting a movie on location in Afghanistan could get her killed. The most vivid reminder came a few weeks before filming, she said, when militants located her leading actress and cut off both of her feet.
But Ms. Cole, an Afghan expatriate with a flair for the dramatic and a history of not taking no for an answer, had her mind made up. Unable to find another actress to take the part — the film is overtly critical of the Taliban — Ms. Cole, 45, decided to play the role herself.
“Come hell, come shine, I was going to make this movie,” said Ms. Cole, a novice filmmaker whose primary job is running the Afghanistan World Foundation, a charity focused on refugees and women’s rights.

MontgomeryMartin Luther King knew that organizing for voting rights in Alabama could get him and others killed. The most vivid reminder came a few weeks later he said, when white militants located an organizer/leader and hung him from the nearest oak tree.

"You don't for one minute think that religious teaching didn't factor in to this violent act do you?"

In order to be consistent, one can't pick and choose to focus on just one example of abuse from just one small segment of human society while ignoring the much broader segment. In some cases, do we ignore these abuses because the societal players allow our society to drive an economic benefit while the society we choose to condemn actually resists, regardless of reasons and their choices making sense to us? What would our larger society and gov't policy be if the economic aadvantage to us all of a sudden become very, very profittable? Would we still have the courage and principle to condemn or would we just park the abuses in the background and just watch our national bank account grow? Ironic that in the mid 90's our own gov't foreign policy and US interests backed the Taliban into power in Afghanistan and things were just rosy into the late 1990's until the Taliban began to stray from the gameplan and entertain another economic partner.

How do we condemn our own gov't for trying to make us live a certain way when we feel they are wrong, centrally plan all aspects of our economic lives or we just think our own personal way is better and yet we condemn others who in effect are doing the same although in some cases they resort to the extreme of violence? Often as after-effects from the reactions of others to counter freedom of choice in national self-determination. Have we ourselves not ever resorted to violence to either gain the right to self determine or in our own minds believe we are protecting and preserving that right from other alleged states we are told want to take this right from us?

The fact is, in many respects we've seen this whole story before and not that long ago and yet we refuse to look at, much less learn from our own history and then we wonder why the rest of the world "hates us!"

Maybe it's not our so-called freedom but our utter hypocrisy that they hate!

Subject: Airline incident unreported

Airline incident Unreported - A MUST READ !!!!!! What would you do?

A MUST READ !!!!!! Our news media would not report this,,,,,,,why?

I, Gene Hackemack, received this email from my
good friend Tedd Petruna, a diver at the NBL facility [Neutral
Buoyancy Lab], at NASA Houston, whom I used to work with. Tedd
happened to be on this same Flt. 297, Atlanta to Houston.

In my opinion, the muslims are all getting
very brave now...read Tedd's story below. Semper Fi

PS: Can you imagine, our own news media now
are so politically correct that they are afraid to report that these were all muslims... unbelievable. Thank God for people like Tedd
Petruna.

>
> This was NOT what happened.
>
> I was in 1st class coming home. 11 Muslim men

> the plane taxied to the runway the stewardesses gave the safety spiel
> we are all so familiar with. At that time, one of the men got on his
> cell and called one of his companions in the back and proceeded to
> talk on the phone in Arabic very loudly and very aggressively. This

>
> This is where I had had enough! I got up and
> started to the back where I heard a voice behind me from another Texan

> going to go..
>
> As I escorted him forward the plane doors open
> and 3 TSA agents and 4 police officers entered. Me and my new Texan
> friend were told to cease and desist for they had this under control..
> I was happy to oblige actually. There was some commotion in the back,
> but within moments, all 11 were escorted off the plane. They then
> unloaded their luggage.
>
> We talked about the occurrence and were in
> disbelief that it had happen, when suddenly, the door open again and
> on walked all 11!! Stone faced, eyes front and robotic (the only way
> I can describe it). The stewardess from the back had been in tears
> and when she saw this, she was having NONE of it! Being that I was up
> front, I heard and saw the whole ordeal. She told the TSA agent there
was NO WAY she was staying on the plane with these men. The agent
told her they had searched them and were going to go through their
luggage with a fine tooth comb and that they were allowed to proceed to Houston. The captain and co-captain came out and told the agent
"we and our crew will not fly this plane!" After a word or two, the
entire crew, luggage in tow, left the plane. 5 minutes later, the
cabin door opened again and a whole new crew walked on.

Again...this is where I had had enough!!! I
got up and asked "What the hell is going on!?!?" I was told to take
my seat. They were sorry for the delay and I would be home shortly.
I said "I'm getting off this plane". The stewardess sternly told me
that she could not allow me to get off. (now I'm mad!) I said "I am
a grown man who bought this ticket, who's time is mine with a family
at home and I am going through that door, or I'm going through that
door with you under my arm!! But I am going through that door!!" And
I heard a voice behind me say "so am I". Then everyone behind us
started to get up and say the same.

Within 2 minutes, I was walking off that plane
where I was met with more agents who asked me to write a statement. I
had 5 hours to kill at this point so why the hell not. Due to the
amount of people who got off that flight, it was cancelled. I was
supposed to be in Houston at 6pm. I got here at 12:30am.

Look up the date. Flight 297 Atlanta to Houston.

If this wasn't a dry run, I don't know what
one is. The terrorists wanted to see how TSA would handle it, how the
crew would handle it, and how the passengers would handle it.

I'm telling this to you because I want you to know.
The threat is real. I saw it with my own eyes.

Thanks Jones....that line was written by the person who sent it. I never checked because it already said it was checked.

Thanks for the' Fact Check'.....I need something besides Snopes....they are too one sided and it's not MY one sidedness, it's the opposite. so I'd like to not use them in the future. Hopefully Fact Check is more facts only.

"We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant somehow to diminish the spectra of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.

It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor killing. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the 'peaceful majority,' the 'silent majority,' is cowed and inconsequential."

(Daily Mail)- A Muslim woman has been awarded more than £13,500 after she was sacked for refusing to wear a headscarf at the estate agency where she worked.
Ghazala Khan – a 31-year-old non-practising Muslim – was fired less than two weeks into her job at a company run by traditional Muslim businessman Masood Ghafoor simply because she refused to cover her hair.
Mr Ghafoor told Miss Khan, who had nine years experience in the trade, that his wife and female relatives all wore full veils or burkas, telling her that her parents had given her ‘far too much freedom’.
A tribunal heard that Miss Khan had been employed to run Mr Ghafoor’s Go Go Real Estate office in Leeds, West Yorkshire, in June 2009.
However, within days of working there she was left feeling ‘very uncomfortable and intimidated’ when Mr Ghafoor put it to her that she had not been brought up as a ‘good Muslim’ and that if she had been his daughter she would not be allowed to work and would have been long since ‘married off’.
He asked her to wear a headscarf at work – even though white non-Muslim women he employed in the same office were never asked to and never did.

(AP)- A glance at several official fatwas, or religious rulings, by the Council of Senior Religious Scholars, the body of government-appointed clerics that is the voice of Saudi Arabia’s ultraconservative Wahhabi interpretation of Islam. The fatwas, viewable in Arabic and English athttp://www.alifta.net/, are in most cases in response to questions sent in by Saudis seeking advice.

TAKING FLOWERS TO THE SICK:
_ “This practice is impermissible as it entails wasting money on non-useful purposes and imitating Allah’s adversaries in this custom.”
___
CINEMAS:
_ “It is not permissible for a Muslim to build a cinema, or run it for himself or for another person, due to the forbidden kinds of amusement it provides. As shown today around the globe, it presents obscene scenes and images that provoke desires and promote lewdness and immorality. Furthermore, it helps women mix with men who are not Mahram (spouse or unmarriageable relatives).”
___
SWIMMING POOLS:
_ “The mingling of boys and girls in studying is Haram (prohibited). The same applies to showering and swimming while naked (or semi naked) in a swimming pool, whether they are young or old, for the Fitnah (sedition) occurring due to this, and for seeing each others’ ‘Awrah’ (private parts of the body that must be covered in public), this is also considered a means to mischief and evil.”
___
RELATIONS WITH NON-MUSLIMS:
“A Muslim should not begin greeting the non-Muslims. However, when the Jews, Christians, or others offer Salam (greetings), he should reply “Wa `Alaykum” (the same to you) … These are some of the rights the non-Muslims have on Muslims. This also includes the right of being a good neighbor. You must not harm your non-Muslim neighbors. You should give them charity if they are needy.”

“It is not permissible for a Muslim to follow the funeral of a Kafir (disbeliever), for this is considered an act of loyalty to them which is Haram (prohibited). However, consoling them is acceptable.”

“Relationships based on mutual affection, love and brotherhood between a Muslim and a Kafir are prohibited. It might render a Muslim as a Kafir. There is nothing wrong, however, if the kind of relationship developed between the Muslim and Kafir does not go beyond selling and buying or accepting the Kafir’s invitation to have lawful food with him or accepting a lawful present, provided that no harm is done to the Muslim’s faith.”

Pathetic: WaPo Pulls Cartoon For Merely Mentioning “Mohammed” by Name…

From a Carl Bernstein Rolling Stone article circa 1977'

... When Newsweek was purchased by the Washington Post Company, publisher Philip L. Graham was informed by Agency officials that the CIA occasionally used the magazine for cover purposes, according to CIA sources. "It was widely known that Phil Graham was somebody you could get help from," said a former deputy director of the Agency. . . . But Graham, who committed suicide in 1963, apparently knew little of the specifics of any cover arrangements with Newsweek, CIA sources said.

... Information about Agency dealings with the Washington Post newspaper is extremely sketchy. According to CIA officials, some Post stringers have been CIA employees, but these officials say they do not know if anyone in the Post management was aware of the arrangements. ...

When it comes to State propaganda organisms, I never concern myself with what irrelevant acts they may engage but I must admit it's fun watching the "coppertops" bouncing off the walls about it!
