News from Frankfurt Germany said that the famous tank General George S. Patton Jr. was suffering from a broken neck. A fracture of the third neck vertebrae was putting pressure on his spinal cord and the general became paralyzed.

I think this great man was murdered

1988​

Pan Am Flight 103 from London to New York explodes in midair over Lockerbie, Scotland, an hour after departure. All 259 passengers were killed in the explosion caused by a bomb-- hidden inside an audio cassette player -- that detonated inside the cargo area when the plane was at an altitude of 31,000 feet. A shower of airplane parts falling from the sky also killed 11 Lockerbie residents.

  • 1914 Christmas Truce begins​

    A much-studied event in war and peace studies, the Christmas Truce was a brief unofficial ceasefire between British and German troops along the Western Front of World War I. During the truce, soldiers from both sides sang carols, shared food, exchanged gifts and played football (soccer). Subsequent attempts to hold similar ceasefires around Christmas time failed.

New speed limit laws were set by Richard Nixon. The new speed limit on all national highways was set at 55 mph as of this time. Before 1974, individual states had set their own speed limits-which were from 40 to 80 mph.

Henry Ford introduces a revolutionary pay deal when he introduces $5.00 per day wages for all his Ford workers. When asked about the pay he tells reporters that he wants his Ford workers to earn enough to be able to afford to buy a Ford motor car.
