Davis in the paper a few weeks ago predicting peak volume up 7.5% over last year. Apparently he never told the Centers. We are getting blasted also.
Same here, we are way above all projections. Its gonna be a long 4 weeks.
45 and a half hoursHeavy volume at my hub also. Seems like mgt wasn't prepared and sort wasn't done some days until after 9. Feels like peak used to, last year wasn't like this.
26,000 smalls on Tues and that doesn't include the ones manually processed.
Have over 40 hrs for the week and it's not even friday yet.
We were at 2.2 million yesterday, as discussed far above projected numbers. Apparently there`s this new thing called Christmas and people send and receive packages this time of year. Maybe if it occurs again next year they`ll listen to the dept management and bring in a more appropriate number of seasonal drivers and other personnel.
Hopefully whatever desk jockey that blew this one gets a foot in the ass for his holiday bonus.
UPS drivers have lost lots of time per package over the last year or two...so there is no need to hire huge additional package car drivers and such, everybody should be able to pick up the slack with both helpers and the edd system in full effect. This is managements new idea of planning for peak and for the other 10 months of the year. In future years when volume growns the allowance will be cut again, and again in order to be able to "do" more with less. Everybody knows this is how things are looked at around here...if theres an issue cut more allowance..I think its a good solid business plan!!!

I was told by our DM that we will be a test center coming soon for keyless doors and ignition in all vehicles. Appaerantly there will be some sort of wristband that is programmed to work with new sensors installed on the vehicles that will start the car and open or unlock the doors. He also said they will be able to add 2 stops per car and shave off .17 of allowance off every driver. Sounds like more work with less people to me!! And with all technology, there will be lots of headaches!!
