That PBS show sounds like revisionist history. That's what I always though. I was surprised when this program said different. They did say the returning troops did speed up the spread when returning to the States.

Sure and end up like the 1918 pandemic. Are you volunteering to be infected so we can get a herd immunity? If more people would develop herd immunity it wouldn’t be as contagious. We can’t just bunker down for a year+.
I do tend to error on the side of caution with this virus crap. I don't believe running off to join the crowds at the beach or heading to a packed saloon is the best thing to do at this time. They have h1n1 vaccine rod. Calm down you been being a snowflake the last couple days over the wu flu.
Very simple concept, not political or opinionIf mitigation slows the spread then ultimately less people die between developing a vaccine.
You would think so.Very simple concept, not political or opinion
SD and mitigation is put in place....
not to stop the spread to any particular area
not to lower the number of overall total cases
It is to stop from having too many cases at once, which overwhelms the system and causes many more preventable deaths. IE Italy
it's working and has worked, to anyone with a brain and understands a basic concept
hey you're getting it!!Dr John A Lee
The fact is, Pandora’s Box is now open. This virus is spreading in the population. There is no evidence whatsoever that we are going to be able to put it back in its box. So it is going to spread through the population at a certain speed. And after a year or two, the number of people who are going to have died from it is probably going to be similar either way – it is just a question of the speed at which those people are dying.
Yep, open it up.hey you're getting it!!

The 1918–1919 influenza pandemic killed more people than any other outbreak of disease in human history. The lowest estimate of the death toll is 21 million, while recent scholarship estimates from 50 to 100 million dead. World population was then only 28% what is today, and most deaths occurred in a sixteen week period, from mid-September to mid-December of 1918.
It has never been clear, however, where this pandemic began. Since influenza is an endemic disease, not simply an epidemic one, it is impossible to answer this question with absolute certainty. Nonetheless, in seven years of work on a history of the pandemic, this author conducted an extensive survey of contemporary medical and lay literature searching for epidemiological evidence – the only evidence available. That review suggests that the most likely site of origin was Haskell County, Kansas, an isolated and sparsely populated county in the southwest corner of the state, in January 1918 [1]. If this hypothesis is correct, it has public policy implications.
Well I guess there may be some truth to it.
I dont necessarily disagree with your opinion, lying or trolling that SD doesnt work is dumb though. But be dumb.Yep, open it up.
Just admit it -- you don't want to be known as the "bat eaters" of 1918. Blame it on anyone else.1918 "Quite possibly" began in KS and some evidence may "suggest" it, but unlikely jmo.

You made the mistake of tuning into liberal programming geared towards spreading fear.I do tend to error on the side of caution with this virus crap. I don't believe running off to join the crowds at the beach or heading to a packed saloon is the best thing to do at this time.
I'll just go to the salon and type ice picks to remove my eyes with in the search barRead and decide. It's not that hard.
That's the hope. Developing an effective vaccine will help decide that outcome. If mitigation slows the spread then ultimately less people die between developing a vaccine.
I like revisionist history. Soon all evidence of white atrocity before and during the civil war will dissapear and then blacks won't have to be angry at me anymore. That PBS show sounds like revisionist history.
