Does anybody know if the US will have to borrow the 12 billion needed for “farmer’s welfare” from China?
The tariffs are designed to get countries to allow our products the equal access they enjoy in our free market. May cause some initial pain by affected groups like farmers, but in the long run will be better for us, or not. We'll see.
In this case, I see what Trump is doing. Let it play out.

The Chinese bought up soy bean futures and until their surplus runs out, they can boycott USA.
Let that run out and all of a sudden, China will have to buy soy beans on the spot market or deal with USA.

we should jack up the price when that happens and keep the pressure on.

Sounds like they agreed to talk more with no details provided. Seems like classic Trump, do nothing of substance and claim victory.

Hey it worked with North Korea!

this is why you have to ask the question why you hate america . yesterdays results is a positive one any way you shake it. but you haters want to disparge it because you are rooting against this country doing well.

all of your democratic leadership has in the past spoken to unfair trade practices. Your unions have begged this country to do something about unfair trade practices.
So now we have a president who is taking on this fight who got the EU to blink and you haters root against this positive result because of and only because of your politics.

Sounds like they are coming to terms with the EU.

yep , also have a lot of positive work taking place on nafta and with mexico and canada. . then it comes down to China.

China is big enough to eventually wreck the economies of the world if someone does not challenge them.

At least he is trying to do something besides bending over like Obama.

these trade deals needed to be renegotiated . Hell democrats were screaming about Nafta when it first went in and that was 20 years ago. Now they suddenly love Nafta because its Trump looking to renegotiate the terms.

this website alone is littered with old threads complaining about Nafta and mexican truck drivers.

China has the potential to be the 800 pound gorilla if someone does not challenge them. Right now we have the economic leverage to do so.

We will have to deal with the short term pain for the long term gain.
