At one time when we had sense we believed in peace through strength.
At the very least Europe will have to figure out what to do with millions of Ukranian refugees.
At the worse we may have to take military action to stop the russian advance into NATO.
We could have prevented this by simply responding to Putins build up by building up in equal proportions in the area and most importantly not giving Putin any reason to believe anything but the fact that even though the Ukraine was not part of NATO we would still be willing to take action to ensure regional stability and most importantly we considered all options to be on the table.
If you tell Putin that in no certain terms we would ensure a no fly zone in the area would he have gone in?
Just because he says he's willing to use Nukes to protect mother russia does not mean he's willing to esculate to nukes in response of a US ground or air offensive.
the trump doctrine continues to be the best game plan for the future. Let the dictator believe that you may just be crazy enough to use those damn things.

They are totally dependent on Russia supplying their fuels.
If you read their announcement about sending weapons to Ukraine, it was carefully worded to say that they would allow the Dutch to ship them.
As for France, everyone could take a lesson from them, they use nuclear power.
And since Putin never really encouraged Russia's economy to branch out into other sectors 60% of the country's income comes from oil. And one of their pipelines to the West run through Ukraine. Which Russia pays $2B a year in transit fees.
