Uniform and appearance standards

This fashion thing is the same as telematics. We know the rules but we continue to try and trick the system and see what we can get away with. If you have earrings just take them out. If you have tattoos cover them up. If you have long hair put it underneath your hat. Individuality? "Oh, the company is taking away my individuality", sorry Kurt Cobain, but you become UPS once you put on that uniform and are on the clock. I once refused a job at Round Table Pizza cause they wanted me to cut my hair and i said NO...........BUT i was a 16 year old hessian that didn't know any better. I'm still a hessian though, but i follow the rules. C'mon MEN! Get with it!

Long hair you can hide, fine. If this is what the company requires, so be it. But it makes absolutely no sense that the acceptability of facial hair depends on whether it is located above or below the lip. It has absolutely nothing to do with individuality.

Everything that is being said here can be answered by 'The Golden Rule'. . . no . . not that one, the golden rule of business.
"The one with the 'gold' makes the rules".

When my time comes to drive I'll be a little sad to shave my beard. There's no way I'll keep a mustache though. I don't want to look like my uncle.

Agreed, but trying to express with ink, earrings, rings and bracelets is. If they want you to shave whatever, just shave! Why resist, they pay you.

When you've lived with something for a while, it's almost offensive when someone forces you to change it. Yes, nobody can FORCE you, you can always quit, or not drive. But what kind of an option is that? When I was driver helping I had to shave my goatee. I play with it a lot when my hands are idle. So I found myself touching my chin a lot wondering what was missing. It's almost like if you were forced to shave your head (assuming you don't already have really short hair - I don't)... although not quite that extreme.

I'm not saying I wouldn't do it to drive, but it will be a difficult move to make... as it would not be temporary.

Our competition sports full beards while they soak up all of our volume. My wife loves my vacation Goatee as I'm sure some of the gals on my route would. Aren't the Brown duds dull enough?

Sure, it's all good. :bigsmile2:
He's a hot, little Cutie, so I doubt it will detract too much. :winks:

Awwww, shucks. You're gonna make me blush :$

If the goat were a female, he'd treat it with respect.

No, no I wouldn't.

Go with the stache but go porn-stache. B!tches LOVE the porn-stache!!!

*I've had people ask me what it takes to be a driver. After I tell them a few little things I finish it off by, "You'll have to shave that beard/goatee off but you can keep the stache." 90% off these huaahs reply, "SCREW THAT!!!" Closer = "You wouldn't shave your face for $80k/year???" To my surprise, most of them say "NO!!" Huaahs!!!

In terms of the dress code, one thing I don't get. "Boots". Being the new guy, they are basically wanting me to wear the clunky "clod hopper" type footwear. Training sup went on about how he can't stand guys wearing "tennis" shoes. How it's not safe. But they go on and on about impact on joints, knees, back, etc. We do an "athletic" job, yet they frown on footwear basically designed for what we do. Don't get it.

They should offer dry fit polo shirts for summer time. It rediculous wearing brown poly. shirts in 90 degree weather plus an undershirt. Not to mention its 130 degrees in the back of the truck, and you have a 300 piece industrial route.
