China Vows to Stand Firm, Urges Nations to Resist ‘Bully’ Trump

China’s top diplomat warned countries against caving into US tariff threats, as the Trump administration hints at the possible use of new trade tools to pressure Beijing.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said appeasement will only embolden the “bully” at a BRICS meeting, rallying the group of emerging-market nations to fight back against US levies. The stern remarks show China intends to resist pressure to enter trade talks even as US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggests Washington could ban certain exports to China to gain leverage.
“The US, which has long benefited enormously from free trade, is now going so far as to use tariffs as a bargaining chip to demand exorbitant prices from all countries,” Wang said in Brazil on Monday. “If one chooses to remain silent, compromise and cower, it will only make the bully want to push his luck more.”

I heard rumors but no evidence that US wants Europe dependent owe cn us?
I don't know about that but Europe wants a relationship where they can take advantage of our market and then block us from selling our products primarily cars there. So while they claim to allow us to sell cars there the regulatory requirements they impose are so strict and expensive that we can not sell at a competitive price. thats the problem with these countries they pretend to have low tarriffs but then get you in other ways either by adding vat taxes or making strict regulatory requirements

White House blasts Amazon over tariff cost report: ‘Hostile and political act’

4/29/25

"The White House on Tuesday slammed Amazon for reportedly planning to display the cost of President Donald Trump’s tariffs next to the total price of products on its site.

“This is hostile and political act by Amazon,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters.

“Why didn’t Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?” Leavitt asked.

She added, “This is another reason why Americans should buy American.”

that should be interesting
a) they have 10000 of a product in stock they bought at reduced production cost.
b) they replenish by buying 10000 at the higher tariff price. they'll do this well before they sell the first 10 K because it takes six weeks to bring it to the warehouse and another 2 weeks to spread it around to all the amazon facilities.
c) 6 weeks into that replenishment we settle the tariff issue with china and they can now buy at the cheaper price.

what are they going to charge where and how are they going to show for the tariff price. the risk for them is the tariff issue gets settled and they're stuck with the product they bought at the higher 245 percent tariff

are they going to continue to charge 245 percent more and blame the tariffs when you can then go to a competitor and buy it much cheaper from someone who used just in time inventory processes.

How the hell was this supposed to work?

Seems like good business to me. Like seeing the taxes and fees broken down for you when you buy airline tickets.

the other side to this is a good chunk of what is sold on amazon is by third party sellers. third party sellers will not want to share their pricing information with amazon because amazon is notorious for becoming a competitor for the most profitable products sold by the third party seller.

its also a convinient excuse to price gouge which will take place either way. there will be sellers that stocked up when they heard what was coming that will charge more and blame the tariffs.

to your point they would have had a price showing on the side that said if inflation was not 10 percent this is what you would be paying

Buying power is a much more subjective thing than what basically amounts to a tax.

The tariff bit feels like showing sales tax after the subtotal, while the other one definitely feels like a political statement. I dunno. That's just my gut reaction.
