on some native reserves in america, the govt has created a system of dependence where the natives can no longer hunt for their food, and the only food they have nearby is 7/11 junk.
Really? Being almost half Native American I've visited reservations around the country. The serious problem is alcohol consumption, and I imagine other drug usage. But many reservations these days have casinos which have worked pretty well for them. Those that don't have that or other resources don't have 7/11's either because they don't have the income to support those stores. Geez man, where do you get your info from?

What caused farmers off their land was one of the worst droughts in history. The fact remains that factories moving into Mexico have millions jobs and made northern Mexico States more prosperous. And cross border trade greatly improved life for many Mexican-Americans. I lived down there in the 90's and 2000's and have seen the improvements recently. McAllen, TX is amazingly better. Pretty much the case up and down the border. The one thing that has put a damper on things is cartel activity.
At 5 bucks a day I'm sure it made a lot of Mexicans wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. As for farmers I seriously doubt that the USMCA will have anywhere close to the impact it's bragged up to be.
For example under the USMCA U.S. share of the Canadian milk market will increase from 3.25% AAAALL the way up to a startling 3.59% and given Canada's rigid Class 7 ultra high filtered milk requirement you'll likely see no noteworthy increase.

As with the case involving U.S. milk overproduction as well as the over production of other U.S.farm products Canada and others are saying in a nice way that U.S. over production is an American problem that requires an American solution.

Most American manufacturing jobs in Mexico are considered excellent by Mexican standards. GM builds engines in Saltillo, Coahuila and those workers start at $7.50hr. By local standards that's good. Yes, I'd rather see those jobs in the U.S. at decent wages, but the American standard of living is generally higher even without those jobs. Certainly you'd want poor people to have the opportunity to improve their lives no matter where they live?

Who said it wasn't? But it was good for Mexico. Aren't you for poor people doing better?
poor people did better under slavery but thats no justification for it.

NAFTA is awful and undemocratic the way it works. it bypasses domestic regulations.
