Just wondering if I am eligible for retirement. I am 59 years old and worked 5.5 years before I quit. I worked the preload and paid Union dues, then withdrew from the union, but cannot seem to find out if I am eligible for anything.

You should be eligible for a small pension when you turn 95. Just kidding---call your Union Hall. Don't count on living off a 5 year pension -----if they even have it.

We have someone at our building who started in his late 50's and thought he would be able to quit and collect as soon as he got 5 years in and seems rather mad they are making him wait until he is 65 to collect. Bitter even. As if there are any jobs that just give pensions out after 5 years of PT work.

Wherever I see Trump, it smells like he's Putin.
In the Western Conference pt'ers need 84 "points", age plus years of service. 59+5.5=64.5

So, here, in theory, you wouldn't qualify for another 19.5 years. Possibly, you'd qualify at 65? For sure you'd want to contact your local union hall.
