I know a new young mechanic...Takes time.
He's still learning. I thought ups would be a good fit for him in a few years.

At least a week for the engine to turn up from ordering, then at least (IMHO) 30 hours on the clock to do a good tidy job. What is the avg time 2 replace a engine ...? Without any foreseen issues

No time for that with keyless and telematics now,One time it took 3 months to replace the engine in my truck. They pulled the engine then ordered the parts they needed to rebuild it.
.... and waited.
No time for that with keyless and telematics now,
From what I have gathered @1BROWNWRENCH ...has been doing some replacement s .....for other buildingsDo you send the trucks out to have work like that done now?
And are you allowed to keep parts you will probably need in stock?
We try to keep parts on hand, but only as stocked items (SCI) and they are like pulling teeth to establish. In my area there effectively is no approved outside services to use apart from warranty work at dealerships, and Freightliner does not for the most part know how to work on the Chevrolet powered cars they sold us. The local Chev dealer then points fingers back at Freightliner.Do you send the trucks out to have work like that done now?
