It's too much.
I simply tell them that I am taking myself out of service.
Nothing more, nothing less.
We have no sick days here and what's termed a "no-fault attendance policy", meaning no matter the reason, it's an occurrence.
Never tell them more than you need to, then they can't accuse you of dishonesty.

it really doesn't mater what the reason if you have opt 3 days. but they may increase your work the next day to punish you. I prefer to text my sup when I'm not coming in that day.
